AIBU?

To worry that he feels patronised?

My dcat is 10 years old and in cat years probably senior to me (relevant).

My compliment of choice to him is crooning sweet nothings in his little cat ear, like "you're such a good boy", "aren't you clever".

It has recently come to my attention that I may be unwittingly patronising him and therefore damaging his self-esteem.

Thoughts?

It probably doesn't matter. He knows he's superior to you anyway. Grin

You're right sooty! He is a chubby bruiser and has ultimate power in this house. We all know who's in charge Grin

No you aren't patronising him - he is humouring you and thinking 'Of course I'm clever and good, don't state the bleedin' obvious, just get out the Dreamies' Grin

I am not sure a simple servant owner as yourself could damage a cats self esteem

But he may like you to think it does Grin

I'm sorry to tell you this, but he'll be having patronising thoughts in his head about you Shock

You do realise he considers you to be a lower life form don't you? Grin

I say to my boy cat all the time, 'who's my good boy?' And then he replies, in the voice I use for him, 'me! I'm a good boy!'
