Masterchef UK (and the Australian one) which I sometimes catch as well, seems to be in a whole different league to the USA one.
A lot of the the American offerings seem very ammateurish - There doesn't seem to be a high level of skill involved. They were making cupcakes? the other day, and most of them were worse than what a child would make and the other concoctions seem a bit amateurish as well.
Some of the contestants open cans as well, to add to dishes. Who goes on Masterchef and opens cans?
I don't get it, we are the ones who have a reputation for having crap food.
maybe we're not as bad as we are made out to be
In comparison, from what I've seen so far, even one of our worst contestants are like michelin star chefs compared to most of the USA masterchef contestants.
