No idea how bad the start is, or the end for that matter, as I've only seen the middle which was dreadful

YABVU. It's a great easy to watch film.

You've done the right thing. Now have a glass of wine to get over the shock of how crap it is.

I inadvertently put it on one [very dull] day.

It lasted around 3 minutes. Half of one song and a smidgen of another.

Never again. Horrendous.

YANBU - it is fucking woeful and should have been killed with fire before it was ever released.

Go and buy yourself a slab of fancy rocky road and put on Bridesmaids.

Godawful film! A few years ago I had to travel across El Salvador by bus and was the only female/foreigner so was desperately trying not to draw attention to myself.

The steward asked me if I wanted to choose the in-coach movie and I said I didn't have any preference (all the movies on coaches there tend to be macho/violent anyway)

And then Mama-Fucking-Mia starts playing (steward thought I'd like it) and all heads turn towards me. Felt really sorry for all the blokes having to endure the movie, as if life wasn't hard enough for them

YANBU. I almost walked out of the cinema in the first ten minutes. It's a cringe-athon.

YANBU.

I lasted for far fewer minutes than you. I tried as I was given the impression it was brilliant (obviously it is to some!!). I feel that musical films are not for me. I watched Sweeny Todd and was so bemused and disturbed I failed to switch it off; I was not so mistaken with Mamma Mia.

If you thunk the film is bad (which I do), you should see the stage show. No, wait, you really shouldn't. Beyond shit. I love musicals, but Mamma Mia is a pile of crap. Jukebox musicals should be against some sort of law - even more so when directors cast stars who can sing in a misguided attempt to make the whole thing watchable.
YANBU.
