I can't be the only person this has happened to. You know someone you admire, lust at from a-very-far and occasionally, in weaker moments imagine how wonderful you would be together. You're happy in your own life, you know it will never happen but it's a harmless imaginary fantasy world. And then BAM they go and get engaged to someone in their real lives and you have to face it will never happen. The back up life is gone. A slight, not quite sadness, but a definite pause for 'oh....'.

Or am I just a loon having her dream world end that should seek professional advice? smile

BeStrongAndCourageous Thu 07-Jan-16 18:34:46

I can't fantasise about someone once I know they're off the market. It's ruined Benedict Cumberbatch. I try, and end up all "but... But....his poor wife and baby!"

OnlyLovers Thu 07-Jan-16 18:39:29

BeStrong, you're a better person than I. grin

ThunderInMyHeart Thu 07-Jan-16 18:42:27

The day I found out Tom Hardy was married was a dark one indeed.

OnlyLovers Thu 07-Jan-16 18:44:10

Ben Whishaw is both gay and married (well, civil partnered).

Double whammy.

RumbleMum Thu 07-Jan-16 18:51:16

OnlyLovers That's never been an issue in my head ... wink

RumbleMum Thu 07-Jan-16 18:52:04

And OP I don't share your problem, but I totally understand it. smile

RuggerHug Thu 07-Jan-16 18:57:46

regenerationfez it was only announced today and wouldn't be a hugely famous person, but well regarded in his field wink
If only I hadn't made a twat out of myself when I met him, it could have been so different blushgrin

RuggerHug Thu 07-Jan-16 19:30:27

BeStrongAndCourageous that's exactly my issue! The dream is over because it would be wrong!

SpecialistSnowflake Thu 07-Jan-16 21:47:15

Ah, yes, I've seen an article... I don't blame you for feeling deflated, he's a very fine fantasy boyfriend to have to let go of wink

RuggerHug Thu 07-Jan-16 22:14:23

SpecialistSnowflake thanks for your kind words. My mother text me about it confused

WanderingNotLost Thu 07-Jan-16 22:28:25

Jamie Heaslip?

I felt this about Benedict. And Eddie Redmayne. And Tom Hardy. And Cillian Murphy. And many many others. Still holding out hope for Tom Hiddleston and Henry Cavill, though...

OnlyLovers Sat 09-Jan-16 14:06:48

Rumble, yes, I don't let it stop me. grin

JessTitchener Sat 09-Jan-16 14:43:55

Wentworth Miller coming out was a sad day for me.

MitzyLeFrouf Sat 09-Jan-16 14:48:42

My condolences on the end of your fantasy relationship. It's most rude of him not to have let you know!

Bad Jamie Heaslip.

MamaLazarou Sat 09-Jan-16 14:50:10

YANBU. I will never get over finding out George Michael was gay.

sad

MitzyLeFrouf Sat 09-Jan-16 14:53:24

Although, shallow as this makes me sound, I'm more likely to end a fantasy relationship if I discover my beloved is a short arse rather than already spoken for.
