His family fled to Eygpt when he was a tot because Herold ordered the massacre of the innocence. Many of the Syrian refugees are just like Jesus and his family fleeing for their lives. Take note Donald Trump or any other people who are anti Muslim.

Take note the bible is a story... passed down and subjected to mans interpretation. ...hmm

wasonthelist Sun 03-Jan-16 02:37:04

Who was Herold?

wasonthelist Sun 03-Jan-16 02:39:43

What does this have to do with being anti-muslim? Muslims weren't that taken with Jesus, last I looked, what with him being a Jew and a minor player.

DioneTheDiabolist Sun 03-Jan-16 02:43:35

Was, Jesus is considered a prophet in Islam.

wasonthelist Sun 03-Jan-16 02:47:04

I know, but a minor one eh?

Goodness knows I have no time for Trump, but Jesus would surely be ok under his rules.

Ludoole Sun 03-Jan-16 02:47:52

What gets me is if this "so called" God is omnipotent, why he allowed this to happen...?? Why allow all the shit in this world???
Apologies to those who "believe" but this apparent benevolent being has done fuck all for my family!!!!!

Ludoole - I know, I prayed to him to fix the gearbox on my car, but if anything he's made it worse.

DioneTheDiabolist Sun 03-Jan-16 02:52:23

Was, from my reading of Jesus, he hung out with outcasts and had a rather more difficult relationship with rich, powerful men.

Ludoole Sun 03-Jan-16 02:56:28

was My husband believed but he was subjected to horrendous pain til he died in december. My father believed but hes had his mind stolen by alzheimers for 8 years. I dont believe and im still here though no doubt people will say its due to my disbelief that all this shit happens

wasonthelist Sun 03-Jan-16 03:00:46

Agreed, but I thought the OP was imaginging Trump's proposal about not letting in Muslims was in some way relevant to Jesus' flight to Eygpt?
Jesus wouldn't have been affected.

Ludoole Sun 03-Jan-16 03:04:01

No he wouldnt.... hmm

Ludoole Sun 03-Jan-16 03:04:35

Wrong bloody face ...

Jesus probably looked similar to many modern Muslims. He certainly wasn't a Christian as toddler. He was Jewish and might have looked middle eastern.

I am certain that Donald Trump would have banned him and certainly considered Jesus to be a dangerous leftie. Surely if the looney American right think that Obama is a Muslim then they would probably class Jesus as a Muslim. Islamophobia and stupidity go hand in hand. Since it's impossible tell what someone's religion by looking at them, people like Donald Trump discriminate on race instead.

I doubt that Syrians Muslims fleeing IS would be that offended to be compared to Jesus and his family. Muslims revere Jesus as prophet and have their own set of beliefs about him. I don't know if Muslims believe the massacre of the innocents happened or not. Probably it's not discussed in the Koran.

Trump wasnt just talking about syrian muslim refugees, i reckon it was making more of a statement about the president's parentage than anything else. Dog whistle politics to the Tea Partyists and their ilk. even though he's a public Christian Obama's father was a muslim immigrant from kenya, Trump cant stop and turn back time but it is about casting a slur on the president's family background being unamerican.

Most modern Americans are there because their ancestors emigrated there. Think a lot of them forget this. Especially the old money families who have owned property for many generations.

How many families fled from Ireland to America during the various famines? 2 million in 10 years I think. 80,000 died on coffin ships. But they were allowed to take the risk, and were given a chance when they got there. There are over 6.5 million people currently displaced from Syria. But of course they must all be evil IS sympathisers or agents with an agenda hmm all the refugees in Greece and Turkey, living in awful camps, just can't wait to get their hands in Britians purse confused "all the refugees are men" erm you mean the ones at Calais? No shit. Young men travelling alone can get further than any other group, is that not obvious? To send your brother or partner on ahead, they can't get into UK so maybe try Germany instead then can ask to send for family once they earn the money to do so. There should be something like the kinder transports of ww2, to give woman and children safe travel. The oceans and seas have enough dead bodies in them sad

Albert Einstein was an asylum seeker. He visited America but never went back. Lots of other notable academics were also asylum seekers at one stage.

Religion and parentage/race often get confused with very dangerous results.

Ironically Christians (and various other non-Muslim and Muslim sub-sects) are being ethnically cleansed from the Middle East, not by Donald Trump and his supporters but by ISIS who are Sunni Muslims. Sure Donald Trump is an idiot but he is not the one currently responsible for the deaths and destruction in the Middle East.

ReallyTired Sun 03-Jan-16 10:21:20

No one had said that Donald Trump is responsible for ethnic cleaning. The fact is that the US easily has both the money and the space to take more asylum seekers than it currently does. Comments about banning "Muslims"
from the US hurt asylum seekers. The problem is not Donald Trump but the voters he represents.

Allowing people to die in refugee camps or drown in the med is not much better than ethnic cleansing. The U.K. citzens who advocate stopping overseas aid to Syrian migrants would be condemning thousands to their death if they got their way.
