The one where she has her son help with the shopping and can't string a sentence together/ bumps into son and tries to hide the fact she's having a NYE party. Surely I cannot be alone in thinking these are pretty shyt and annoying!!! shock

MackerelOfFact Mon 28-Dec-15 20:43:35

I love Ruth Jones but those ads are awful. The Christmas ones were even worse!

LineyReborn Mon 28-Dec-15 20:44:17

They are embarrassingly shite, I agree.

Postitblue Mon 28-Dec-15 20:44:37

Perhaps she needed the cash- agree I really like her too!

Tiggeryoubastard Mon 28-Dec-15 20:45:19

We just said they must be cringing watching these. They're some of the worst adverts I've seen.

Outaboutnowt Mon 28-Dec-15 20:46:24

DP and I were just talking about how naff these are last night! So YANBU!

Not very funny (if they're supposed to be?!)

NowSissyThatWalk Mon 28-Dec-15 20:46:38

YANBU at all. They are so odd. The casting of the 'son' missed the mark massively, he's too old and rather unlikeable.

Foxyloxy1plus1 Mon 28-Dec-15 20:46:40

Ruined their credibility IMO. The boy is truly awful too.

MrsJayy Mon 28-Dec-15 20:47:14

Whats with the turkey dilemma she had a turkey when she was fretting over the gluten free Latimers meh

Postitblue Mon 28-Dec-15 20:47:55

Yes far too old for his voice breaking which seems to be the 'gag' grin

TheFirstNoelHeadbands Mon 28-Dec-15 20:47:59

They are unutterably shite.

The actors were obviously paid very, very well.

Outaboutnowt Mon 28-Dec-15 20:49:40

Yy the 'son' only looks about 5 years younger than the 'parents'

Like a 30 year old dressed as a teenager.

MrsJayy Mon 28-Dec-15 20:50:05

He is meant to be the lad who is far to old to be at home (I think)

Iwanttokillthem Mon 28-Dec-15 20:50:34

Theres one just been on and ,as we do every time ,we both shout out SHITE at the TV.

Its the idiot son that forces the words out of our mouths.

I know Ruth must need the money like everyone does but good grief. They must have hidden the script from her.

Postitblue Mon 28-Dec-15 20:52:05

Prob a good job I'm back to work tomorrow- paying far too much attention to Xmas Telly ... wishes my tea was a wine

somewheresomehow Mon 28-Dec-15 20:53:22

The gluten-free Latimers 'are coming' family! confused

Pipbin Mon 28-Dec-15 21:00:27

They are dreadful.
I can only hope that all involved were either broke or being black mailed.

ShebaQueen Mon 28-Dec-15 21:01:40

I totally agree, these ads are dire. The way the "son" says "volly voolleyz" makes me want to scream

leccybill Mon 28-Dec-15 21:09:19

Just shows what kind of budget Tesco had to spare for advertising this Christmas, as opposed to how much John Lewis and Sainsbury's spent.

I liked Lidl's School of Christmas advert. Funny and lots of detail so you didn't mind seeing it a few times.

Janeymoo50 Mon 28-Dec-15 21:09:24

I cringe for all of them every time. I hope the Head of Marketing/Media etc is shitting himself.

Are the Tesco staff really running about getting the shopping for them? confused YY to 'volly vooleeyz' and the way he says 'party'. angry Are we supposed to believe that couple are married? confused

For balance I love the Coop one. Turns out those pensioners got some lovely stuff in that bag. smile
