AIBU?

To think if I hear the bloody "ABC" Song one more time...

Long story short, DD's first proper Xmas, she's literally just turned 12 months old. For Xmas, DGP's bought her an ELC purple ABC dinosaur. For those of you who don't know, it's a big purple dinosaur shaped toy that plays the ABC song when you press a button on its head.

DD thinks it's the MOST awesome thing ever invented. After hearing the ABC song in a ridiculous voice for what seems like 1000's of times, DH and I are sick of it.

It currently seems very unfair to take the toy off DD (as she loves her xmas gift), which DH has just done, to switch it off as it's driving him mad. It has hence prompted a melt down from DD.

AIBU to give it back to DD to stop her crying, even though both DH and I have had enough of the bloody thing?

personally I now realise why dinosaurs became extinct and am currently looking for a meteor to kill this one...

This and stepping on Lego is the real test of parental love.

I was in a queue, the toddler had been given money to choose something, from her Aunt. The Mum was on the phone asking her DP what she could do, because the little girl loved what she picked, but the Mum had, had enough of the song before even leaving the shop.

She told him he best not forget her Prosecco.

Well, if it were me, I would give it back (DD3 has the same toy from a few years back). Three children in, I've generally found that toy noises wash right over me, and are infinitely preferably to wailing and grizzling - that's what would grind me down more.

Remove batteries, return toy and explain it is sleeping.

About 3 of DS's toys last year play the ABC song amongst other things. It's just a fact of life for you now I'm afraid.

This year it's all about cars. And they all make a bloody noise too.
