Had a turkey lunch today . All hot from the oven.

Left overs for supper . I re heated for 3.5 minutes in the microwave and it was left standing for a minute or two.

When I tucked in , the turkey was luke warm . I had a couple of mouthfuls and decided against it .

Will I be poorly ?Xmas Envy

How were the left overs stored? IMO there is very little chance of turkey giving you food poisoning.

I doubt it. It probably went cold in that period you let it sit.
Don't worry. Smile

That's fine, isn't it?! (If not we're both fucked)

3.5 mins in the microwave (on full power) will likely have been hot enough. It just cooled quicker than you imagined/you left it longer than you thought.

You'll be fine.

How on earth will you get food poisoning?! It was cooked today I assume. So unless it's been sitting in a warm kitchen for hours on end it will be fine.

Eh? You could have eaten it cold, luke, warm, boiling, whatever you'd fancied. I'm not getting how you think you would get food poisoning.

I have Cold turkey usually on Xmas night. With salty chips sometimes. why does it have to be warmed up?

What do you think they did in the days before microwaves and fridges?! Throw the stuff away a few hours later???

Or have you missed a sentence out, like 'I put it in the freezer after lunch.'

But....but...what about Turkey sandwiches? You don't re heat the meat atcall for that and that's fine isnt it?!

It'll still be fine even in a couple of days of kept in the fridge. You can eat it hot or cold.

Agree that 3.5 mins on full power will have heated it enough.

If you are eating leftovers, cold is fine, but if heating up it needs to be thoroughly heated and should be too hot to eat straight away to be hot enough. The reason is about bacterial growth - the fridge keeps things cold enough to suppress it and so cold is fine, but if you only heat to lukewarm then you're warming up the bacteria and activating them without killing them, hence the increased risk of food poisoning with room temp or lukewarm.
