Grrr I was just trying to be fair, but a three y/o just sees someone getting double the amount of presents.

Should I of ignored th cost and just bought the same number of presents?

It's not the price it's the amount with young children.

In future with little kids, yes. Never mind

When mine were little I tried to have similar sized piles for all (4 DC). I have never counted value very carefully but try to be vaguely similar in value. I've had no complaints and they are all adult-ish now!! For nephews (who are sibs) I'd spend the same amount, but not necessarily same sized package.

I think it's OK if they are wrapped in the same paper but not if one has two to unwrap. This is what I remember from my childhood.

For pre-schoolers, yes, probably. But hey-ho, it's done now. Don't sweat it. Flowers

My 7 year old still counts how many presents he got all together. It's not a price, it's how many, that counts for little ones.
Can you quickly find something(anything, even some sweets, etc.) and wrap it up and give it to her?

No. Stop stressing. They wont even remember in 10 years time. All you do is tell them I got you something I thought you;'d really like/want. Xmas is for getting a present you would like. Thats what you like, the other is what she likes. They are not the same, they dont have to be.

When it's presents for other people's siblings id probably get the same number.
However if I ever caught my children counting presents under the tree from us and familiar and whingeing that one of them had more I would be seriously unimpressed.
But they open their presents at the same time and don't keep count.
They get roughly the same in their stockings but I don't count it out.

Definitely yes. I still remember counting how many presents my brother had to how many I had. I ruined many christmases, crying that it wasn't fair. I'm still the same now :)

You seem rather proud of that.

Try to teach your dc that it's the thought, not the quantity, that counts.

No, I don't think you have. I would have thought they'd be too young to give a shit how many gifts they got or old enough to know better and be happy they got a nice gift.
We do it by monetary value not actual amount of gifts, as children are so different and want different things. So x10 selection boxes instead of cool lego toy seems odd to me seems odd to me.
Personally i wouldn't be too happy if my DS counted his gifts as opposed to being thankful for what he got but maybe i'm being idealistic.

Mine have never noticed, we don't count amounts/prices.

With little ones it's number of presents, when they're older you can discuss cost. Mine are almost 13 and almost 15 - DD1 got a pair of proper Dr Martens for her big Christmas present, DD2 only wanted books, which cost a lot less. So she had more parcels. DD1 was so busy getting her Docs on she didn't even notice fine with it. With little ones that just does not work.

Nope! As a pp said, I would not be impressed at all if DD started counting gifts under the tree either.

Mine have never counted presents.
I have never counted the number of presents I have given them.
I would tell them it was very rude if they did count their presents.
