Man with very large bottle of red wine

in the seat in front of me on the train. He's an expert as well; has REAL wine glass plus this plastic sort of holder on top of it to prevent spillages.

I want to ask him to fill my glass right up.

(3 hr journey in front of us.)

AIBU?

CherryPits Tue 22-Dec-15 22:22:00

YANBU - maybe just ask for a swig?

OVienna Tue 22-Dec-15 22:22:37

OMG - it's a very special container. I need to try to photograph it. The sort of thing that would be sold in airline magazines.

MajesticSeaFlapFlap Tue 22-Dec-15 22:24:29

Is it a wine sippy cup?

I want one

Trills Tue 22-Dec-15 22:30:04

Is it a VERY large bottle? Or just a regular bottle?

CreepingDogFart Tue 22-Dec-15 22:31:03

His Christmas has begun.

HixieRice Tue 22-Dec-15 22:31:12

Well gosh, what's the worst that could happen? Could be a great journey!

LegoRuinedMyFinances Tue 22-Dec-15 22:36:15

He sounds like he's fit right in on MN - ask for a glass and then lead him here, we could do with more sensible men like that grin

Fuckitfay Tue 22-Dec-15 22:36:26

I think you should start a conversation by asking him where he got the wine holder if it's unusual and hopefully this will progress to him offering you some.
Is there no snack bar on the train or trolley that sells wine if it's a 3 hr journey?

Krampus Tue 22-Dec-15 22:48:21

I like fuckitfay's suggestion.
I do want one of those glasses linked above, ideal for camping.

OVienna Tue 22-Dec-15 22:48:56

IT IS A WINE SIPPY CUP - well played, Majestic.

His partner got it in a secret Santa. He's just refilled...

(He's not fit and I'm not looking' (DH to collect). Just by the by.)

Fuckit there is a snack bar but this is just sooo much more convenient. Need to worry about computer safety etc.

anyway, he seems a gentle soul and I don't want to spoil the journey by asking and having him recoil.

Will let you know how it goes. Wifi in and out.

My XMAS has begun too! smile

OVienna Tue 22-Dec-15 22:50:00

Krampus - 100% for camping.

MrsSparkles Tue 22-Dec-15 23:18:36

Why has this only just come up - would have been a perfect present for DH!

Fuckitfay Tue 22-Dec-15 23:25:09

A man equipped with a wine sippy cup got a long journey is clearly trustworthy and reliable - ask him to keep an eye on your stuff while you nip to the bar...

Agrestic Tue 22-Dec-15 23:38:26

God I want to get one of these for my mum. Does anyone know if any shops have them in stock!?

Safe journey OP! wine

lorelei9 Tue 22-Dec-15 23:51:00

I've never seen a super sized bottle of wine
Hope he shares, lol.

OVienna Wed 23-Dec-15 00:30:26

Not a drop as of yet. We have 40 min left...I even moved my glass strategically but without banging!

ExBallerina Wed 23-Dec-15 00:41:19

He'd be my new best friend lickety split, that guy.

Yay, passenger bonding!wine

knobblyknee Wed 23-Dec-15 00:45:37

He's like the exact opposite of Pork Chop Dude who was here earlier.

Stoneagemum Wed 23-Dec-15 00:55:22
