I'm not fat, I'm very fit, I'm not a slob
I just do not see why people think that lying about their hair colour makes them look "better"

my hair is salt and pepper but glossy and thick and fits my skin tone

why do so many people (mainly women) feel scared to admit that grey is natural and can / does look fab?

how can women moan about ageism while dyeing their hair every month?

Red hair is supposed to be the rarest type, but I reckon I'm as exotic as a red head round my way.
I'm comfortable with silver and black hair, but a number of KS1 children can't resist stroking it and asking me if it's really that colour. Or if I'm wearing a wig...

I don't think it says anything more than you have grey hair.

But I do like grey hair. I am 35 and going more grey by the day and I love it, I used to constantly dye my hair all kinds of different colours and one day I got fed up with the regrowth and just stopped and it's very nice to not bother to dye it anymore. I do keep it in good condition however and get it cut regularly.

Oh, I'd probably count as a slob in the OP's vocabulary, I don't care enough about the judgement of others to dye my hair every few weeks. I'd rather buy books or chocolate with the cash.

As others have said, grey hair's genetic. I had my first grey aged 10 and by 17 I had full white streaks either side of my head. My Dad was white by 24 and I have dyed mine since the age of 18. YABU it's all about personal preference. I don't think my grey at 17 proved anything other than my Irish heritage!

YANBU to mention that we live in a society in which youth and youthful appearance are valued unreasonably highly, and age isn't.

Wow, good for you. Try having been grey since you were 17. And every time you go to the hairdressers or are a bit slack on keepingup with the dye, hearing a shocked/disgusted voice saying 'oh my god you have got so much grey!!!

I am not giving up the dye any time soon, but thanks for showing how much more enlightened you are than me.

Yes, I had a Mallan streak from being about 19 or so. Went through a red/purple/green/peacock phase and then stopped when I got a job at 22.
DD colours her hair a lot, despite having no grey at all.It's just a personal choice.

I had a lot of pure white hairs, as well my natural brunette, age 21...just genes not actually much life lived at that point! I have been blonde, red, striped and started with purple at age 16.
Was I fake at 16, or just now I am 41?
I know of 3 age 40+ men who dye... are they fake? What about the receding men who shave entirely?
I am probably just about pure white now, masquerading as very dark brown at the moment.
Do you remove any body hair? Are you faking it as a bare under armer?
What about my black chin hair? Am I being fake when I tweeze that?

Yes, it does tend to be other women who get arsey and offer their unwanted Glamour tips. My hairdresser called my white hairs 'natural highlights' which I thought was lovely. Nor did she brandish dyes at me.
She'd have lost a customer if she'd been that much of a PITA.
