In insisting that this is thrown away...

DH has a best friend with a penchent (sp?!) for taxidermy (urgh). They had a lads night out about a month ago where one of them gifted the friend with a new (not sure what the correct term is) dead, stuffed animal.

In the drunkeness that ensued it was left at our house...and the friend hasn't been back to collect it since. DH put it in a cupboard and I have just accidentally grabbed it whilst searching for something else.

AIBU to insist that our house is taxidermy free? I'm not sure whether I am overreacting and it actually isn't that big a deal...

What got stuffed?

vulgarbunting Sun 20-Dec-15 17:49:56

A baby duck sad

Gross. I find taxidermy for anything other than educational purposes disrespectful.

Oh dear sad but I think you should get the friend to pick it up, not throw it away. Gross though it is, it doesn't seem right to bin his present.

Ugh a baby duck. Tell dh to contact his friend to come and collect it .

Oysterbabe Sun 20-Dec-15 18:00:29

You are overreacting. It's just a dead duck.

Nataleejah Sun 20-Dec-15 18:00:31

Yuck! Get rid of it as soon as possible

lavishly gift wrap and give it back.

Littlef00t Sun 20-Dec-15 18:10:36

I know it's a pain but could you post it to the friend if he's too far to drop it round?

Littlemixedup Sun 20-Dec-15 18:12:59

Just send him the bill.

AlisonWunderland Sun 20-Dec-15 18:14:41

Tell him to get the duck out of your house. Or something that sounds similar

Nanasueathome Sun 20-Dec-15 18:16:37

I would just throw it away now
If he asks, at a later date, where it is just tell him no idea ( which will be true as you will have no idea where the bin men have taken it)

SuburbanRhonda Sun 20-Dec-15 18:19:10

Send it to me. I love stuffed animals grin

Katnisnevergreen Sun 20-Dec-15 18:31:16

Ive got several stuffed ducklings. Send him my way

B33rTricksPott3r Sun 20-Dec-15 18:36:53

Send him a text saying he is to collect it by a certain date then throw it away if he hasn't

Gliblet Sun 20-Dec-15 18:37:43

Tie its legs & wings, blindfold it and send him a photo with a ransom demand.

Oldraver Sun 20-Dec-15 18:41:55

I would have to chuck it outside as most taxidermy freaks me out

goodcompany2 Sun 20-Dec-15 18:58:37

Just send him the bill.

Probably wants the body, legs and wings too though grin

IndridCold Sun 20-Dec-15 19:00:52

No idea, but I can hardly type with laughing so much at the thought of you suddenly stumbling on a stuffed duckling while rummaging in a cupboard grin.

My grandparents were antiques dealers, particularly collecting taxidermy so it always takes me by surprise that some people find taxidermy out of the ordinary or weird. But you don't like what you don't like, so tell him to take it back or you're getting rid, asap.

TaliZorah Sun 20-Dec-15 19:06:59

I have a friend who loves taxidermy. She has a bird called "Edgar Allen Crow".

Send it back to him

FadedRed Sun 20-Dec-15 19:07:34

Alison and Goodcompany LOL gringrin

Jux Sun 20-Dec-15 19:35:51

Take it to friend and leave it on the doorstep. Then text to say it's there when you are safely away.

Loving the suggestions!! Ransom note is actually going to happen...
