I'm sure they mean well, but I can't help but picture an angry ex-UKIP divorcee knocking this out from his bedsit.

Some genuine issues to address here, but I'm somewhat dubious about the means.....

I quite sure they don't mean well. And I just bloody clicked on that. I have a thread in Feminism Chat right now that might elucidate for him why the abuse of men by women isn't nearly as bloody prevalent as the abuse of women by men.

That sounds like it was written by my ex boyfriend.

originalmavis Sun 20-Dec-15 16:48:35

Oh God, its so tempting to contact them isnt it?

Babycham1979 Sun 20-Dec-15 16:48:43

Well, that's an odd point. The abuse of straights by gays isn't as prevalent as vice versa (or Asians, blacks, tall people, short people etc) but that doesn't make it ok!

Love the liberal use OF CAPITALS.

I'm all for male equality. Because it also means female equality.
When is it bloody coming?
All for more responsibility to fathers.
I wonder if the guy thought this through carefully.

The reason we need a WEP and not a MEP is because of a lot of reasons. Not least of which is that women are raped, abused and die with alarming regularity at the hands of men. This kind of bullshit whataboutery that this man is indulging in diverts energy, time and thought away from the epidemic of violence towards women.

When people talk about cancer research, everyone doesn't say, "what about fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, that's just as bad?". Because things that are rare don't warrant the same level of attention as things that are common.

If he is genuinely worried about abuse of men, why not work with a charity or similar that works with them? He's not, though. He's interested in misogyny. The vast majority of abuse of men is by other men. So how a party that thinks 'misandry' is the issue will address this is beyond me.

Babycham1979 Sun 20-Dec-15 17:02:07

But surely, you're now practicing whataboutery, Mrsterrypratchet? Or does it only count when it's an issue you want to deride?

Oswin Sun 20-Dec-15 17:03:40

What a load of shite.

THE FIRST STEP IS TO FIX THIS INJUSTICE

grin

Dipankrispaneven Sun 20-Dec-15 17:15:47

Ah, leave him to it, it'll keep him out of mischief. And his "party" will gather all of around 6 sad little men as members before fizzling out.

What is this 'holding doors' bollocks? I always hold doors for men - or women, or whoever's following me through the door.

But I'll happily swap official door holding duties for equal rights at work. Deal!

MistressMerryWeather Sun 20-Dec-15 17:53:52

It's all very shouty, isn't it?
