AIBU?

Am I losing the plot

I placed an order with a company.
As far as i was aware there were no issues.
I paid via paypal.
I received a confirmation email from them (the company) the usual Thanks for your order and they gave me a delivery date.

On the delivery date I worked from home which was a pain as neighbour is having some work done.

No delivery

Signed back in to the site and saw that my order had been cancelled, no reason given.

Tried to get in touch with them, they will only communicate through email, various emails go back forward, long story short they're saying the payment didn't go through. No reason for it not to go through. . .

And when you pay by Paypal with them they have a big warning come up that if paying this way the money will leave your account straight away.

My issue is that as far as I knew it did, I had no reason not to think so, I mean if I hadn't got an confirmation email/delivery date I would have looked in to it.

I suggested that an email saying there was an issue with my order would have been good customer service (and business sense, don't they want my money?)

They're saying I should have checked my Paypal account (do people do this?) and it's not their problem.

So before I fire off a final email tell them they're crap and I will never use them again I wondered if maybe I am wrong.

I don't think I am, its not as if I was expecting them to send me the goods without paying for them, all I wanted was a one line email, which I wouldn't have though would be too difficult seeing as I'm getting at least 5 a day with 'special offers' from them.

So AIBU?

No, you're not wrong. I work for a small online retailer. If there's an issue with payment we always always contact the customer (usually by multiple means) to ask if they have another way to pay, or would they prefer to cancel. Seems like someone missed it and is covering their ass instead of apologising.

But have you paid? Check your Paypal account. This sounds like a scam to me. I had something similar in the summer. They told me that it wasn't working, so could I please send a payment directly from my Bank account. And of course when you do that, you have no cover and the money is lost.

No I haven't paid.

The point is I didn't know I hadn't paid. I had no reason to check. As far as I was concerned all was well until the goods didn't arrive.

There was a few moments there where I really did question myself.
