To be very thankful it's the last day of term...

It's great to have fun for Christmas etc, but the last two weeks have been a bit much. Today was frantic, Christmas jumpers / charity day, also a spare bag of party clothes, food to take for the party, then a last minute show and tell thing to find. We've done- the nativity, the juniors Christmas play, the Christmas fair, film days with donations, presents for the teachers... it's finally over! The constant feeling of guilt that something has been forgotten might now be gone... Now what to do with them over the week before Christmas. I've only got two school age children so no idea how others manage it.

At the moment I'm glad it's almost the holidays, the DCs are exhausted and ready for a break.
Ask me again this evening and you might get a different answer, I said the DCs could bring their friends home when school finishes at lunchtime. I currently have no idea how many teenagers I'll be feeding come 1pm!

YANBU! DD2 finished yesterday and ds1 and dd1 finish today - I can feel the stress ebbing away and am looking forward to Christmas hibernation!

We have to wait till Tuesday. Just as well, as there's still stuff to do before they're under my feet. DH and I are relishing the thought of a break from early morning starts in the darkness, but that said, come the 4th of Jan we'll probably be heaving the usual sigh of relief when we send them back to school.

YANBU I am a teacher (although sixth form so no nativity etc.) but this term has been hideously long and tiring plus we have taken in coursework for marking and moderation the last two weeks - I and my colleagues (and our students) are beyond exhausted and ready for a break!!!

My DS is 2 so in full time nursery and this week has been Christmas jumpers/dinner/party with santa plus transition days for him as he is moving up a room in Jan and he is exhausted too . I've had to go in and wake him every day this week as he has been sleeping longer .

So, I'll be very pleased when lunchtime comes and I can finish work and go home! I'm organised in that I've bought all presents but need to wrap and got some bits of food/drink already so I just need to finish shopping for food and tidy the house and then I can relax

2 primary/ nursery kids of my own and I'm a teacher! Definitely ready for a holiday in our family.

Mine are in until Wednesday, I'm quite looking forward to early next week when I'm off and they're in - I've 3 in primary school.

I am so glad, I have two children at different schools and so I have had to do everything twice i/e nativity, christmas jumpers etc at different times. It has really taken its toll and actually made me feel more grumpy than festive.

Yanbu at all. I practically danced the school run I was so grateful it was the last one. The kids are totally ready for a break and I felt like I was hanging on by a thread. So glad it's the holidays.

I'm glad and dreading it at the same time!

Glad because I'm exhausted and when my alarm goes off at 6am I could cry! 😴 So I won't miss that!

Dreading it because we have no car so will have bored, whiny kids for weeks! There are only so many parks and walks around here😩

Ours go back the seventh which is daft. Why not just give them the Monday Tuesday and Wednesday off next week and have them back the full week from the fourth. Suppose it will give me time to get wrapping done and my DH can take my two year old out because I struggle to wrap at night now my eldest is up later.

I'm full of a nasty bug that doesn't want to go(also disabled and ill)and I still have some bits to do for Christmas and we have 5DC and 2 of our children are disabled.

So far I've planned a visit to some of our friends,breakfast out one day,visiting Father Christmas,visit to a Christmas market where they can all ice skate,have some lunch and go on some rides and Christmas Eve we'll be seeing Grandad(my Dad)I hope,I just need to shift the dreaded lurgy or poor DH maybe doing all that on his own with the 5DC.

When did 'Christmas jumpers' become a thing in schools? I absolutely loathe them, as they are all cheap and nasty polyester, ugly and my children would never wear them except for 'Christmas jumper' day. My dd wouldn't wear a Christmas t-shirt instead, such is the dominance of the Christmas Jumper. I hate them!

I also think it's a waste of money buying a jumper specially so you can raise 50p to wear it!

Yes HP I have paid out £36.00 for 3 x Christmas jumpers for the 3 DCs still at school to wear. I have then had to pay a further £3.00 for them to wear them FFS. So the charity gets £3.00 while the shops get 12 times that in revenue. Another bonanza for the retail industry to add to the Christmas shopping fest they've already got. Absolutely ridiculous.

I turned off the Alarm clock, it feels good to know I can wake up whenever I wake up for 2 weeks.

The others put mine in perspective as I just have two and even then stressed, have also got some health problems so it isn't easy. Yes agree about the Christmas jumpers business. V impressed by the plan for the 5 DC that puts us to shame, no plans here as yet except watching films on TV and maybe the local skate park, but they want to go to them zoo (yay) not v Christmassy!

thank goodness we didn't do christmas jumper day this year ive three kids two schools one nursery to juggle the nursery has just attached itself to the one school (its complicated there is a nursery there already that is from three ds2 nursery is from 0-3 and is now attached to the school next to the nursery they already have?) they decided they are now running at the same time as the school so i have to take my funded hours at an inconvenient time now instead of 9-12 12-3 ive got to do it 8.40-11.40 12.20-3.20 and they now charge for a lunch club so ive three children all starting school at the same time in three different places! if anyone wants me i will be in my room [santa]

Mine are teenagers so less stress from the school in terms of events, but they are soooo tired. The Autumn term just goes on forever, we need a Bank Holiday in mid-November.

Mine have broken up but I am at uni so I have 2 essays to write and 2 exams to revise for, all with kids under my feet. Waaaaaah.

YANBU. Our two desperately need a break, and to get back to being our normal DC rather than two stroppy, hyper balls of frustration. I've got a nice mix of work and home time up till 4th January, so for once I'm.actually looking forward to this holiday!
