Is longer than the very end of time itself? 0:01 <shoots self>

YANBU - it's five minutes on my machine - I timed it!

wineoclockthanks Thu 17-Dec-15 21:16:16

Especially when the wash has inexplicably taken 10 minutes longer than ever before and you should have left the house 9 minutes ago

PseudoBadger Thu 17-Dec-15 21:17:18

And wtf is it doing in that time? Summoning up the courage to unlock the door?

carbcraver Thu 17-Dec-15 21:19:36

I thought it was just my machine that couldn't distinguish between a minute and what feels like an hour!!

SanityClause Thu 17-Dec-15 21:19:49

It's forever, particularly if you have the buzzer on. Mine starts beeping before its finished spinning, and you can't open the door then until it's finished. It takes at least an hour, I'm sure of it.

And once it has obviously finished the amount of time it takes for the door to be unlocked is inversely proportional to the amount of times you tug on it.

Lying bastard machine.

Mine doesn't actually have a timer, but the wait between it finishing and unlocking is interminable.

90sforever Thu 17-Dec-15 21:22:46

Yes so true

dontcallmelen Thu 17-Dec-15 21:24:48

last minute on my mine varies between 5/10 minutes depending on, how much it wants to piss me off.

Whataboutreindeer Thu 17-Dec-15 21:26:38

Mine is very random, I've seen it drop several minutes and then that last minute has lasted an actual minute. I thought it was the end of days.

PseudoBadger Thu 17-Dec-15 21:31:19

The tumble drier and dishwasher don't pull this shit

TSSDNCOP Thu 17-Dec-15 21:40:01

It is the same with running machine time.

Except there every minute is really 5 minutes regular time.

pretend Thu 17-Dec-15 21:48:54

They don't PB, however the dishwasher is a lazy fecker whose cycle seems to get shorter and shorter. Half the stuff comes out dirty.

At least the washing machine shows some commitment to the cleanliness of the clothes....

ThursdayLastWeek Thu 17-Dec-15 21:52:08

My tumble dryer is the other way around.

I put it on for 2.20hrs, go back to it an hour and a half later and it's telling me its finished??? And the washing is never fucking dry fangry

Hassled Thu 17-Dec-15 21:52:11

That last minute is a complete waste of time. Plus it's way longer than any other minute. I hate that last minute with a passion that's only shared with my hatred of getting lasagne sheets to fit in any container known to man.

Hassled Thu 17-Dec-15 21:54:24

And while I'm ranting - one of my washing cycles (the anti allergen one with steam and shit) can take over 3 hours with a full load of sheets. Nothing in the world needs to be washed for 3 hours. Even if I indulged in a spot of light mass murder, I bet I still wouldn't need 3 hours to remove the evidence.

LavenderRain Thu 17-Dec-15 21:56:52

My washing machine goes back in time confused

It tells me it has 3 minutes left, I go upstairs, come down and it has 5 minutes left, I mean wtf is it a tardis in disguise or something?!

Oh and it also eats socks, bastard machine hmm

VegetablEsoup Thu 17-Dec-15 21:58:15

and then it has the cheek to lock the door for a further 2 min that feels like 2 hours.

ThursdayLastWeek Thu 17-Dec-15 21:58:49

Yy Hassled my 'white cotton' cycle has to be put on at 6am if I want to have it dried before dinner time.

pretend Thu 17-Dec-15 21:58:49

Too true Hassled smile

My general cottons wash is 2.5 hours shock. So I use the quick wash at half an hour.

However I have a house full of teenagers and the general cottons wash is the default setting. I've lost count of the times I've gone to put a wash on to find a lonely pair of jeans just getting soaped up with 2 hours 15 minutes to go.... angry

possiblefutures Thu 17-Dec-15 21:59:02

Why is it though???

cherrytree63 Thu 17-Dec-15 22:00:24

My DP had a part of his brain replaced with a washing machine timer grin. "leaving the pub in a minute dear...."
