It's not just the smiley though, they're running other promotions as well.

Very interesting, thank you.
The other promotions are quite open, but I thought the Smiley was rather insidious.

It's useful, any time you want to refer to something as crap. just use Chocolate now kraft have made Cadburys chocolate inedible.

Maybe it'll go viral ? "what a bunch of kraft" ?

The similarity in pronunciation - despite orthographical differences - should form the basis for a serious investigation into the existence of a higher power Smile - or is a form on nominative determinism ?

Of course, no one would think this was an attempt by Cadbury's new owners to overcome the reaction of MN's posters to their unpleasant product.
Would they?

One course of action might be to ensure that whenever anything is written regarding Kraft/Cadbury, the full story is always included - it's the opposite of abbreviating, but judging by other instances, very effective at pushing the message.

Especially in Google Smile.

So "Cadburys ruined by Kraft" ?

I had given up on Cadbury's, since you can buy far better chocolate at lower prices from Aldi and Lidl, but last week I accepted some from a friend out of politeness. That oily aftertaste! Ugh!

Don't forget that apart from ruining the chocolate and firing workers, they gave up paying tax.

It's not just the Cadbury brand that pays no UK corporation tax.

Well if this thread is anything to go by, it would appear to have backfired rather badly.

Nah. Count the posters. Threads like this have a tiny audience and little effect.
Mondelez will sell their soyalate regardless.
MN will take money from 'sponsors' regardless.
The world carries on.

It's true - more people care about who won x factor, sadly.

Soylent Kraft, erm I mean Cadbury's, is gross. They can stick all their advertising up their big purple ass. And I say that as a fat lady who used to eat their products constantly Chocolate Chocolate

and I didn't know they were tax dodgers.

Seems like a lot of US multinationals regard tax as optional outside the USA. I wonder how a UK multinational trying that in the USA would fare?

Long thread here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2511511-Dear-MNHQ-With-your-new-collaboration-with-Cadburys-could-you-tell-them-to-make-it-taste-less-shit?

And thread from last year that I found while searching for the one above www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2230601-To-think-kraft-have-ruined-Cadburys

I hoped that the might of Mumsnet might convince them to give us the good old Cadbury's back, but no.

My 8 year old niece had to have a Cadbury's advent calendar this year because all her favourite Gleam YouTubers are promoting the fuck out of them. (I did notice that Zoella is much more enthusiastic about her Thornton's one though. She has been 'diplomatic' about the chocolate in the Cadbury's one.)

I'm not bothered except that my creme eggs got smaller!
Kraft own a lot of the chocolate being sold and i love a lot of what they make anyway.

Thanks for the link Moriarty. I hadn't seen that and being in Chat it will disappear soon.

I hope MN Limited will be more careful in future before taking money from tax dodgers pushing damaged products. I'm sure they don't need the cash, and it goes against the MN unbiased ethos as I understood it. Very disappointing.
