We got married in a helicopter over the Vegas strip at night, it was amazing. We booked the holiday and wedding through Virgin and the helicopter company was 5 Star helicopters, but when I was researching I found Maverick Helicopter tours also did helicopter weddings including the Grand Canyon. Google both and see what you think. I would definitely recommend getting married over there though, and I bet the Grand Canyon would be amazing.

Do it. I don't know if you'd save any money but it would be amazing. I went to the canyon for the first time this year. We're going back to the other side next year. Papillon are great helicopter wise. Have a few days in Vegas. You'll either love it or hate it. I'd also recommend staying in one of the hotels around caesars palace. Its the middle of everything although we stayed off strip in the palms last time which was nice enough but a bit of a pain if you wanted to go out.

Start googling and asking lots of questions. We got married in Yosemite National Park and arranged it all over email....twas fab Grin

Check out locations on the rim, whether you can get married at the bottom of the canyon or over it in a helicopter! Enjoy planning.

why not? But it is going to cost a bomb if you are taking people from the UK.

it looks pretty scenic but be aware this if in a helicopter, this isn't the section of the canyon you see from the village, which is much more spectacular. That's a no fly zone!

BUT there are central canyon sites, although people do need to be able to walk.

are you paying for the people you are taking?

You can get married in red rock canyon also which is very close to Las Vegas so you can drive there. We just got married in one of the chapels but I did consider this, it looks beautiful.

We did it! It was amazing! Just so you know, you do the ceremony in the Grand Canyon, but then repeat vows on the way back once the helicopter is in Nevada air space, as the licence is for Nevada and the grand canyon part they use is in Arizona, so the legal wedding vows are done in the helicopter. We used 'A Special Memory' wedding chapel and it was brilliant! :)

Oh, and there's an outcropping part way down the canyon where the helicopters land and you go to the edge for the ceremony, it was beautiful!

Sorry, if my baby wasn't distracting me I'd get all my thoughts in one post!

The chapel organised the whole thing, helicopter (was maverick), licence for Grand Canyon wedding, photographer, flowers, cake, everything! We just got the wedding licence the day before :)

So it is easy to do if you want!

I think you are perfectly entitled to have your wedding where you want and the grand Canyon is an amazing location.

However if you want anyone to be there I'd discuss it with them first, you must accept any declines from guests graciously - it's a huge trip and expense to get there.

I don't 'get' the Grand Canyon. It's just a big hole.

What about getting married somewhere pretty, like Stourhead?

Ahhhh zyla can I pick your brains!
How did you arrange it?!
I have googled it as Pp have suggested but some of the websites look well dodgy!
Our initial thoughts were to take a small party (our nearest and dearest, probs about 13 people) over with us, and then have a blessing in a church and party when we get back here to the UK!
We have no idea about costs or anything though!

Has your DP actually been to Vegas?

It's pretty soulless like Blackpool in the desert.

It's entirely your choice where you get married but, IME, the Grand Canyon will be hellishly expensive and quite probably not live up to your expectations.

Sounds awesome to me. I'd like to get married on the glass bridge at sunrise. I don't know if that's possible though.

Yes overseas weddings can be a pain to be invited to so don't take it personally if people decline.

having seen the canyon, it isn't actually 'just a big hole' - the real central section is all formations, pillars and rocks and is jaw dropping.

I don't think you can get married on the skywalk, which is nowhere near this bit but IS much nearer to Las Vegas. Which is worth seeing for one night.

It's a spectacular place. Do it. So much less hassle than a wedding in this country.

Las Vegas isn't soulless ( like Blackpool in a desert). It's fun and energetic and so much to do , and Grand Canyon is amazing too , I've always loved Vegas and Vegas loved me .

We got married in Vegas. We just went on our own and it was wonderful.

Be careful what time of year you go, we went in August and it was 45 degrees outside. Meltingly hot. I would not want to get married outside in that heat.

We booked everything ourselves. Lovely hotel, limo from hotel to the chapel. The staff at the chapel were great and even though they had done 20 weddings that day, still made us feel special. Limo took us back to hotel and we had cocktails in the bar, a little roulette and then off for a lovely supper.

Look on Youtube too, we found video's of other weddings at our chosen chapel. Helped us choose.
