Would I be unreasonable to not go to childs nativity?

Depends on what sort of unwell? I would want to go under any circumstances.

If you're really unwell don't go. If it's just that you're feeling tired and not 100% I would, personally, make the effort.

If your children genuinely aren't bothered then no, YANBU.

Are you sure they're not just saying that because they know you don't feel well, though? In my experience children get quite upset if there's no one there to watch them perform.

I've never really seen my children's school performances because I'm the drama teacher so I'm either backstage, in the lighting box or have my nose in the script. But it's only recently that even my oldest has started to realise that just because I'm there doesn't mean I'm watching her!

I missed one of my son's shows and he still hasn't forgiven me ten years on I personally hate them as well, but it seems important to children that you are there

Mine just stands there glowering at everyone! I know he's just nervous but if you didn't know he's (honestly!) a really lovely kid you'd think he was a future psychopath in the making!

If op is unwell, and doesent drive, having to trudge younger kids, who might probably be playing up during the performance, plus your children told you they weren't fussed. In those circumstances, I would not.

I don't understand how anyone could want to miss seeing their child in a nativity play- I love them even with other people's children.
I would make the effort whatever the difficulties- so sad for the child otherwise- whatever they might say to you.

My older two are 16 & 14. Erm nope :o it's just forced plays. I hate them
The end of year play at lower school was excruciating (for another one of my children) it went on for hours and hours!

Oh the end of school play is awful. And the harvest festivals. I don't know if my child is in with a particularly tone deaf bunch but their singing is terrible and the piano isn't tuned properly and it deafens me!
