aibu about phone calls

My sister gave birth last night around 11ish. I got a text around the time just to say he was here.
The phone then rang at 6.30 this morning waking up my 9 month old son. My dh got up with him and left me to sleep. I had insomnia last night and didn't get to sleep until 2am. The phone has been ringing on and off all morning. My dh has refused to answer the phone as he is annoyed. My son has been a knob all morning because of tiredness.
Got up and my mum rang again! So I answered.
When I told her I wasn't happy as they woke up ds I was told to stop being so silly. She then finished the phone call saying I will ring back when you are in a better mood!!
So aibu to be in a bad mood?

I think it's quite exceptional circumstances.

I don't understand - who's been ringing you up all morning, did your DH really not answer it because he was "annoyed", why didn't one of you just unplug the phone? I suspect your post is just the exhaustion talking (I've been there) but cut your mum some slack - she's excited about the new baby, that's all.

A little U to be in a bad mood; your Mum was probably ringing to spread a little Saturday joy at becoming a Grandma again!

However, tiredness is internationally known to make even the most lovely of folk irrational and a bit batshit, so try and have a nanna-nap and maybe text your Mum and tell her you love her.

Oh dear, you are really tired. Yabu but never mind. I would have a decent breakfast and go for a stroll, the fresh air will help everyone.

it might be exceptional circumstances, but thats why OP got a text at 11pm, OP didnt need a call at 630

(should have unplugged/turned off phone)

Christ, just answer the phone next time (even if only to say you don't want to talk right now).

Then it won't keep on ringing, will it?

I understand the annoyance at the phone ringing all morning and YANBU, but calling your 9 month old son a knob because he's tired is really harsh!

What a ray if sunshine you are. Your mum is excited she has a new grandchild she obviously assumed you would be too to have a new nephew.

Calling your baby a knob is serioulsy uncalled for.

Bearing in mind that you had a baby not so long ago so you can understand why you're family were so excited to tell you the news

Yabu and abit rude. Your dsis gave birth last night! I bet everyone is excited. However lack of sleep makes you unreasonable. Congratulations on your new family member x

Yes you got a text but your sister just gave birth and your mum was excited. Plus I always think when it's family life events it's actually nice to talk about it.

You realise the reason they kept ringing is they thought you were out or busy not beng rude and ignoring it.

Couldn't your husband just answer the phone and say politely its too early and she's woken the little one and Sprite can't talk atm because she didn't sleep last night I'll get her to call you make when she's awake.

I actually think your mum's very reasonable to call you silly because that's polite I'd call you rude and a misary.

And I have condition that makes insomnia very common, I often don't get to sleep until 6 am i also often get a call at that time, I always answer it, if I'm too tired I often just say sorry I'll call you back.

Yabu

To call your son a knob

To mad at your mum because your OH ignored the phone rather than answer or unplug

To be mad that people want to speak to you

I do think 6.30 is to early to call someone, but give her a break. She is excited by having another grandchild.

Is there something else spray from tiredness happening

Why didn't your husband just answer the bloody phone? Problem solved. Yabu.

Your DH should have answered or unplugged the phone and then you wouldn't have had to listen to it ring all morning.

YABU to be angry with your mum - she's just become a grandma again - of course she's over the moon!

I think it's a very odd reaction by you and your husband to having a new baby in the family. It's lovely and unlikely to happen that often I'm sure. Stop being a grump and get some excitement going.
