In a nutshell; poster throws a strop and doesn't like the answers they are getting.

AIBU to think it's a massive cop out?

Senpai Fri 04-Dec-15 21:26:12

Yeah, but what good can really come of a continuous roasting? It just encourages the behavior for other idiots on MN.

MissFitt68 Fri 04-Dec-15 21:26:15

Which thread?

teahousecandle Fri 04-Dec-15 21:27:30

Sometimes posters push for answers though or guess correctly.

thelouise Fri 04-Dec-15 21:29:09

It happens quite often. I understand why massive bun fighty threads are deleted but when there is debate, if the OP whines enough, it gets deleted.

GretchenBeckett Fri 04-Dec-15 21:30:24

Which thread? It's hard to give an answer if you don't know which thread.

Egosumquisum Fri 04-Dec-15 21:31:08

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Passmethecrisps Fri 04-Dec-15 21:31:31

Is it really because op whines enough? Surely if it becomes a massive bun fight then it gets deleted for that.

I suppose I can imagine someone giving away too much when hey are all het up and fighty. Could it be that?

5madthings Fri 04-Dec-15 21:31:47

I had a thread deleted for this once, it had been running for a number of days, I didn't have a strop but my husband works in children's services, some of the teen children found it. And they had already made threats about me/the madthings and we're using info from the thread to be abusive and goading to dh. It didn't work but did make his job difficult at the time so mnhq kindly deleted.

It was just a fluke they found it as something random I said on an unrelated thread was quoted in the daily mail, they recognised the username as a nickname/shorthand dh had used to refer to his children then used advanced search.

My name is different now and dh has moved worldwide, still in same area but a different setting.

So it's not always just op having a strop.

5madthings Fri 04-Dec-15 21:34:00

I didn't wine, I just emailed mnhq with the predicament facing dh and they kindly agreed to delete. It was actually an interesting thread, I would rather it hadn't been deleted.

It's not something mnhq do lightly. They will refuse if it's just because op is being stroppy.

PurpleDaisies Fri 04-Dec-15 21:34:40

Are you talking about the recent one on social services involvement wirh a poster? She had posted a picture of her kid which wasn't the smartest move...

thelouise Fri 04-Dec-15 21:34:41

Does it matter? Nope, not really but a lot of stuff on MN doesn't really matter. I was just pondering.

Russellgroupserf Fri 04-Dec-15 21:37:11

It's the social services referral thread, the poster had a username that was an actual name so wonder if it was deleted because she had put her real name. She had put a lot of detail including photos of her children's bedrooms.

DioneTheDiabolist Fri 04-Dec-15 21:41:34

YABU OP, MN doesn't delete if an OP doesn't like the responses they're getting.hmm

Marmitelover55 Fri 04-Dec-15 21:48:08

The poster was pretty incoherent and deluded probably best it's gone.

Gruach Fri 04-Dec-15 21:50:01

I often wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea for MNHQ to make it more clear to new members that they should avoid posting anything identifying.

It's frustrating when a thread full of knowledgeable responses has to be deleted because the OP realises they have given too much away.

Mumoftwoyoungkids Fri 04-Dec-15 21:51:55

Could MN have not just deleted the post with the photos in? And changed her name to "AnUnnamedUser".

Sparklingbrook Fri 04-Dec-15 21:53:01

It was for the best that that one went I think.

PurpleDaisies Fri 04-Dec-15 21:53:59

I agree with sparklingbrook-I'm not sure any good was coming out of that thread.

TheFormidableMrsC Fri 04-Dec-15 21:54:45

My divorce threads were deleted at the suggestion of MNHQ after my ex and the OW found out about them and contacted MN. I had them reinstated once I had checked my legal position and that I hadn't committed any crimes such as contempt of court or trolling as they alleged. I was not sorry that they didn't like reading the ugly truth about themselves and they remain there for all to see although I no longer post as my story "ended" as it were. I wasn't remotely bothered that I was outed or recognised and haven't name changed either.

MelcombeBingham Fri 04-Dec-15 21:59:21

It's not always that simple. Sometimes the "regulars"just keep in pushing beyond what is acceptable and people release info to defend themselves. I was in a situation where I was bullied for no reason at all, I had actually been positive but 3 people decided to twist what I said and persecute me. They refused to remove it because at the end of the day they are only here to sell advertising space and the bullying and ludicrous regulars are their usp. I took legal advice and They immediately removed it. I was really, really affected by some of the stuff those bastard said to me and They were relentless. Yes you could switch off the computer and walk away but I'd isn't like that when it happens.

Sparklingbrook Fri 04-Dec-15 22:04:39

bullying and ludicrous regulars are their usp. I am really not sure MNHQ would agree with that statement. confused

expatinscotland Fri 04-Dec-15 22:07:43

Is this a TAAT? The social services one?

TheSecondViola Fri 04-Dec-15 22:08:54

You took legal advice because someone was mean to you on mn? fhmm and you're still here?
That's ridiculous.
HQ can delete whatever they want for whatever reason they want.

Fizrim Fri 04-Dec-15 22:08:54

Ah, if it was about that thread it saves me the job of reporting it!

It's annoying if someone posts repeatedly in the same manner and then gets the thread deleted on the grounds of 'recognisable' in some way, but they are probably in the minority.
