Hello, this has probably be done to death so apologies! I have a few friends on Facebook who are mums. One of them posts about 20 pictures a day seriously of her child. The most recent is one of the child on her breast and her nipple is in full view ! This girl has a public job and her colleagues are on Facebook aswell as her brothers. I just find it inappropriate.
Another friend is pregnant and posts the same scan picture about 3 times a day with different poems under them. I don't mean to sound nasty but my god why make these pictures so public?? I understand they are totally in love with their kids but come on what did we do before Facebook ?

A nipple?!?

As in one of those thingies for feeding babies...?

Have a Biscuit, calm down and unfriend.

YABU. Just unfollow them from your newsfeed - nobody is forcing you to look at their posts.

Oh and it's just a nipple. Seriously get over yourself. FWIW, I wouldn't post personal photos like that on fb but some people do. But it's just a nipple, it's not like she's posting pics of her vagina (presumably).

Just hide their posts from your newsfeed. It's their Facebook and entirely up to them what they post. YABVU

Oh and a nipple is for feeding a baby, for your information.

I have unfollowed both. I just think she needs to be careful posting so much flesh on Facebook as she works with some quite nasty people and already has issues in work so I worry it will make it worse. For the record I have no issues with breastfeeding I just wouldn't post a picture of my nipple on Facebook.

So your problem is a nipple? Hmm

Is this really your first post? Hmm

I have explained why I have an issues with it. The consensus is iabu so that's fine I have my personal views that others don't share.

Are you sure it is the nipple? Because it doeant aound like the baby could be getting much milk if it is!

Just unfollow. The scan pic and poem would annoy me too

Please don't pretend you are altruistically concerned about her professional life. She's an adult, it's her page and her choice. If you don't like it, just hide them from your feed. I have about 12 fools hidden from mine.

You can hide their feeds or unfriend them, up to you. I'm not a massive fan of loads of kiddy pics either but if people want to post them then that's up to them. I don't have to see them.

As for the breast feeding pic- you find it inappropriate, she doesn't, and considering that it's her nipple, her facebook page and her picture YABU. As for the public job thing, if they tried to pick her up on it they'd quickly find themselves on the wrong side of equality legislation.

Out of curiosity how is the baby on her boob if you can see her nipple?

Report
Pepperpot123 · 26/11/2015 21:21

Freezing there are a few pictures. A few he is on the boob but another his head is turned away so a nipple is on show.

I was genuinely just wondering not being snarky. I'm on a bf group and see these regularly!

Going against the grain with the rest of the posters, I think it's a bit off to post pictures of yer breasts on social media. Likewise I wouldn't want to see someone's Penis, vagina or hairy armpits. But I'm a prude it seems. And yes I did breastfeed quite happily in public

A nipple? OMFG what were they thinking? I would imagine no-one in their workplace will ever take them seriously again. [shocked]

That would annoy me too I must admit, I have friends like this. One had a baby last week, the same day she gave birth her profile picture became a picture of the baby breastfeeding.

Poems under a scan picture repeatedly might get s bit boring after a while, just unfollow them.

Christ. Do people really give a shit if someone shows a bit of nipple when they're feeding their baby on a fb pic? Does it matter?

Report
MidnightAura · 26/11/2015 21:45

A bit of nipple doesn't offend me. I'm pro breastfeeding, it's just something I personally wouldn't share. The type of person that over shares every detail of their child's life with constant updates bothers me hence why I unfollow.

When people start to grate on me on Fb I just unfollow. And breastfeeding is natural and normal if any of her colleagues comment on that then they would be wrong. If her brothers commented nastily I'd tell them to get a life but I'm sure if she's happy to share bf on Fb then she will be happy and comfortable doing it in public so her family and friends will soon be used to this normal phenomenon

The nipple wouldn't bother me but the blinding lack of self awareness would. Yes they can post what they like but that doesn't mean they should! YANBU to find it extremely irritating.

Why bother being fb friends if you find them so offensive and/or annoying...Hmm

I never understand the hysteria induced in some people by female nipples, when male nipples don't seem to produce the same horror.

Oh wait, yes I do. Sexualisation of the female body.

It's a nipple, it's purpose is feeding babies. Presumably you wouldn't mind if she posted pictures of her baby having a bottle feed with some bottle teat on show? Or a holiday photo of her family on the beach, with her DH exposing both nipples?

I don't see how this should be any different.
