Just seen on a friends Facebook that there is an imminent terror attack planned on Birmingham. Someone has kindly shared this information from a partner who is apparently in the RAF and armed forces have apparently been told to just inform family about this.
I have tried to report this post but it doesnt seem to fall into any reportable category and im just PISSED OFF!!
Has anyone else seen it?

BanningTheWordNaice Thu 26-Nov-15 16:42:14

YANBU. Who are the people who write and share these things?

Sirzy Thu 26-Nov-15 16:42:34

Posts like that drive me mad, would have to be very gullible to believe it in the first place and if just plays straight into the hands of terrorists.

They don't need to do anything, the idiots are creating their own path of terror!

Tiggeryoubastard Thu 26-Nov-15 16:44:17

It astounds me just how truly thick some people are.

strawberryandaflake Thu 26-Nov-15 16:43:56

I reported someone last week who was on a pro-extremist rant and said to bomb the west yadyadayada...

They said it violated no policies. They could have at least reported it to the police!

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Thu 26-Nov-15 16:44:47

The people who write and share these things are just idiotic muppets. Self obsessed simpletons. Who cant use their own intelligence and see the gaping holes in the stories they are oh so helpfully sharing. Because the military always get told to tell their families about imminent attacks dont they. hmm fml

Weathergames Thu 26-Nov-15 16:44:51

My partner is a submariner - If I posted ANYTHING like that on FB true or untrue he would get a serious bollocking grin

Oswin Thu 26-Nov-15 16:45:58

Agh I saw that too. Its infuriating. Like the authorities would tell the armed forces to just tell there family's. Bloody donkeys.

TheWitTank Thu 26-Nov-15 16:46:54

FFS. YANBU. I sometimes wonder how people can be so bloody stupid.

Aliceinwonderlust Thu 26-Nov-15 16:47:56

To be fair- how can you expect FB to do anything about stupid people? There are load and loads and loads of them. I don't think you should expect it to be reportable. Or be annoyed really. It's stupid more than anything else. Delete the friend and forget about it.

LaurieFairyCake Thu 26-Nov-15 16:48:01

Whenever I see studies about britains IQ going up I just raise an eyebrow.

If we went by what people say/do/believe on social media we're all as thick as mince.

shiteforbrains Thu 26-Nov-15 16:48:36

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Thu 26-Nov-15 16:51:11

I know and apparently a nurse told someone who has taken to spreading the word. Yep i'd really do that and risk being struck off by the NMC. Utter bollocks. Thick people really are far more dangerous than any terrorists

Utterlyclueless Thu 26-Nov-15 16:54:05

There's one every single year about the Trafford centre.

'An Muslim male dropped his wallet in the Trafford centre and i picked it up and returned it to him, he said 'thank you for your honesty now I will give you advice avoid the Trafford centre throughout December there will be a terrorist attack here'

People actually believe it every year absolute horse shite

Aliceinwonderlust Thu 26-Nov-15 16:55:53

What makes me laugh is when it's some dreary suburb and target no terrorist group would ever have heard of, let alone bother trying to target. Like a shopping centre in bournmouth or something

Sirzy Thu 26-Nov-15 16:58:53

Wow utterly, according to something I saw shared someone a woman in a different shopping centre dropped her purse and said to avoid it on Boxing Day for the same reason. Very considerate these people aren't they hmm

Utterlyclueless Thu 26-Nov-15 16:59:53

Who makes this shit up? Is it just to see how many shares or whatever they can get its so tacky

whois Thu 26-Nov-15 17:01:38

People who 'share' these kinds of things are either 1) really really really fucking stupid and genuinely believe them or 2) complete cunts who want want to create drama/terror.

GnomeDePlume Thu 26-Nov-15 17:06:55

Weathergames I would be more alarmed at the idea of submarines being required in Birmingham!

Goingtobeawesome Thu 26-Nov-15 17:08:25

And now you have carried on spreading the nonsense.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Thu 26-Nov-15 17:09:46

How do you work that out goingtobe? By stating its complete and utter bollocks?

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Thu 26-Nov-15 17:10:12

And stating why its complete and utter bollocks?

emwithme Thu 26-Nov-15 17:10:19

Gnome apparently there's more canals in Birmingham than there are in Venice...although whether they're big enough for a submarine is another question

HSMMaCM Thu 26-Nov-15 17:33:25

There are submarines in Birmingham? Where can I go and see one? grin

OldFarticus Thu 26-Nov-15 17:36:03

YANBU - Similar FB rumours are afoot that there is a plan to attack Dubai Mall this weekend, prompted by some nursery cancelling some event. Cue ever more elaborate rumours each time the bloody cancellation letter is shared. Much hysteria is ensuing!

These rumours tend to proliferate like urban myths. People are really rather odd!
