To ask you if you 'hubby'?

Not a thread about a thread but a thread inspired by a thread.

I've noticed a lot of 'hubby' references on MN in the last few months. This is new isn't it? I thought the average MNer was as allergic to 'hubby' as Gremlins are to water and being fed after midnight.

So do you 'hubby' or do you snub(by) 'hubby'?

I don't use hubby anywhere! I'm not snobby about it, but it's not a word in my every day vocab!

Onedirectionarestillloved Tue 17-Nov-15 22:07:29

I wouldn't use it but can't say I've noticed it tbh.
Most people seem to put dh on the threads I read.

Oysterbabe Tue 17-Nov-15 22:07:31

I snubby.

reni2 Tue 17-Nov-15 22:08:16

I have never hubbied. Or used hubs or hubster.

ouryve Tue 17-Nov-15 22:10:11

Hell no. Far too fucking twee.

If I'm referring to him anonymously, I might say "The Husband" and I know he'll call me "The Mrs" because he does about other people's wives.

MitzyLeFrouf Tue 17-Nov-15 22:10:32

There was a definite bosom hoik there reni! grin

NutCrackerSlacker Tue 17-Nov-15 22:11:22

No, but it doesn't bother me if others use it.

Bookeatingboy Tue 17-Nov-15 22:11:50

Can't even bring myself to type the word, let alone use it... grin

I am no longer married so now he is referred to as arsehole, but in the past he was never hubby

DramaAlpaca Tue 17-Nov-15 22:12:15

I can hardly bring myself to type the word, let alone say it.

laffymeal Tue 17-Nov-15 22:12:45

In rl I use the term "the old man"

MrsBungle Tue 17-Nov-15 22:12:51

No. I don't hubby.

Brummiegirl15 Tue 17-Nov-15 22:12:39

Oh god no. Can't bear Bubz or bubba either - really sets my teeth on edge

honeyroar Tue 17-Nov-15 22:12:56

I use it sometimes. It's shorter than husband and I can't bear DH, it sounds so corny.

reni2 Tue 17-Nov-15 22:12:57

What's hubby's wife called, wifey?

TestingTestingWonTooFree Tue 17-Nov-15 22:14:16

Snubby. I quite like "him indoors" or Mr Testing.

MitzyLeFrouf Tue 17-Nov-15 22:14:25

The good thing about 'DH' is that it can just as easily be 'damn' as it can be 'darling'.

BlackeyedSusan Tue 17-Nov-15 22:16:44

fuck no. hate, hate hate. dh also stands for other non complimentary combinations.

yorkshapudding Tue 17-Nov-15 22:18:36

I don't see it much on MN but Facebook seems to be riddled with it. "Date night with the hubz!". Boak.

skankingpiglet Tue 17-Nov-15 22:19:08

Ugh. Just no. Definitely a non-hubby/wifey household here. I think DH would file for divorce if I called him that, it's a particular pet hate. I do get away with sugarplum fairy however grin
I saw my Facebook feed is today advertising his'n'hers hubby/wifey T-shirts. Clearly the targetting software isn't getting it's audiences quite right.

skankingpiglet Tue 17-Nov-15 22:20:32

sugar21 grin

ScrambledEggAndToast Tue 17-Nov-15 22:20:20

The Mister or the Hubmiester.

Not actually married yet so admittedly a bit premature but it will be happening in the next 12-18 months gringrin

reni2 Tue 17-Nov-15 22:20:42
