Whether or not you think IBU I'm going to bellow out the words to the Marsellaise when the anthems are played tonight. And it's better than the English anthem by far.

Thread title has to be the best auto-incorrect of the day.

Cock. The Marseillaise. blush

bessiebumptious2 Tue 17-Nov-15 19:59:17

Regardless, I kind of hope France win tonight. Just 'cause.

It was good enough when I thought you'd done it on purpose grin

bessiebumptious2 Tue 17-Nov-15 20:00:21

ha ha! Thought 'The Mayonnaise' was just something I didn't know it was called!! Bit like... 'Rostbifs' grin

PansyGiraffe Tue 17-Nov-15 20:00:46

With Cucumber, My Lord at half time

Chillyegg Tue 17-Nov-15 20:01:13

YoungGirlGrowingOld Tue 17-Nov-15 20:04:25

I will also be singing the Mayonnaise OP (and hoping les Frenchies win!) grin

ThroughThickAndThin01 Tue 17-Nov-15 20:06:05

Thought it was very moving. Not watching the match, but wanted to watch the anthem singing and crowd support.

wowfudge Tue 17-Nov-15 20:07:57

I've just done the same. My friend in Paris says people are jittery, but defiant.

Aux armes, Hellman's
Aux armes, vinaigrette
Dijon, La Maille..
C'est La Maille qui M'aille

Et tous les condiments

FartyTette Tue 17-Nov-15 20:10:10

I shed a little tear at the singing of the Mayonnaise Marseillaise - especially when both teams stood together for the team pics.

FetaComplete Tue 17-Nov-15 20:11:28

I don't normally watch footie but I'm making an exception tonight

iklboo Tue 17-Nov-15 20:11:46

The Marseillaise gives me goosebumps anyway, knowing its origins. Even more so after Friday.

Seriouslyffs Tue 17-Nov-15 20:12:26

Aw, thank you Dr not many laughs to be had at the moment!

OhtoblazeswithElvira Tue 17-Nov-15 20:12:35

Thanks op. I think we all needed that.

SoWhite Tue 17-Nov-15 20:13:21

Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. grin star

AuntieStella Tue 17-Nov-15 20:14:11

I don't really care who wins (if it were rugby, that would be a different matter) but glad they're playing. An unimportant friendly becomes a strikingly significant fixture. BBC said thousands of extra tickets were sold since the weekend.

OTOH, tonight's Germany v Netherlands has been called off because of a specific threat

GrouchyKiwi Tue 17-Nov-15 20:14:37

Outstanding autocorrect. grin

Mayonnaise goes well with French Fries, though, so I guess it's appropriate.

I don't think YWBU at all. smile

hefzi Tue 17-Nov-15 20:15:09

I love autocorrect !

I always sing the Marseillaise anyway - a)because I can and b) because it's rousing: frightens the colleagues at work, but what the hell...
