AIBU?

To feel a bit guilty?

Basically a few days ago I went out for food with my family to a nice restaurant. Got there 10 mins before stated end of serving hours about only to be told they'd stopped serving lunch. Bit disappointing but ok.

Rang them up to complain but not arsily, more just confirm stated hours for future booking.

They have now sent through a gift voucher certificate with a fair bit on it (enough for four people I'd say), this is obviously v v kind and actually had made me feel a bit guilty - I'm grateful of course but didn't set out to be a professional complainer Blush

and will they spit in my food? Grin Certificate has my name emblazoned across it!

Just take the vouchers and get there a good half hour before end of service and enjoy it.
It can be hard in the kitchen and if it's been a busy lunch then they often don't have enough left at the end of service.
Where I work we usually take last orders 15-20 mins before end of service.
There's still a lot to do after that to get ready for evening service.

I wouldn't have complained personally, I'd never turn up 10 minutes before the end of service and expect to sit there for a while eating whilst staff fiddle their thumbs waiting to clear down.

But its done now, so enjoy your vouchers and leave a nice tip to ease your conscience.

IME most places say lunch served 12-2 or whatever, so getting there at 10 to 2 wouldn't give them enough time to serve your lunch within their stated hours. Agree with pp, I would get somewhere at least 20 mins before they stop serving. But Yanbu to enjoy the voucher now you've got it!!

IME most places say lunch served 12-2 or whatever, so getting there at 10 to 2 wouldn't give them enough time to serve your lunch within their stated hours. then they should advertise meal serve times leaving plenty of time for last minute customers to order and eat and time for clearing up. totally unfair to turn people away when they are advertising as open. so lunch served 12 - 1.30 or at least state last orders before times so customers know where they are.
