It's rank. Utterly rank. What was he thinking?

Actually, I know what he was thinking. He couldn't be bother to walk the extra two hundred yards to sainsburys and went to the shit shop instead.

A friend of mine once used Elmlea to make ice cream because she didn't have any real cream. It did not taste good.

And the shitbastard has eaten my pudding. He claims I said I didn't want it. I meant not right that bloody second. No court will convict me, right?

Ragged, I think you'd find it In the chiller cabinet with the real cream. But why on earth would you want it when you could have lovely, lovely real cream?

What exactly is Elmlea. I've always avoided it but not sure why. Is it long life?

What is Elmlea?

Report
treaclesoda · 08/11/2015 21:41

It's faux cream made with something like vegetable oil and milk solids or something like that.

It is both horrific and pointless since it is not actually any healthier or lower in fat than the item it is replacing. Like margarine in that respect I suppose. It's only purpose is to be a poor tasting impersonator.

Elmlea is horrible, and my in-laws always buy it instead of cream. I think it is long life, perhaps that's the good thing about it. It certainly isn't the taste.

While we're on the topic, the ASA or whoever deals with these things really needs to sort Elmlea out - they disguise their curdled cats' piss as real cream by making the pots look so similar. There blatantly should be some sort of huge warning on the pots (a la cigarette packets - actually keeping it behind a shuttered cabinet would help too). I've nearly bought it twice, thinking it was cream. Luckily, both times my spidey sense told me something was amiss before actually getting to the checkout, but I still have nightmares about my near miss experience.

People who don't know what Elmlea is, you're not missing anything. It's a 'cream substitute' made for people who can't eat dairy. It's made from vegetable fats.
