It's rank. Utterly rank. What was he thinking?

Actually, I know what he was thinking. He couldn't be bother to walk the extra two hundred yards to sainsburys and went to the shit shop instead.

Is he putting you all on diets or something confused

treaclesoda Sun 08-Nov-15 21:15:15

Make him eat it. All of it. That will teach him. He'll not make that mistake again...

StarlingMurmuration Sun 08-Nov-15 21:16:14

A friend of mine once used Elmlea to make ice cream because she didn't have any real cream. It did not taste good.

I wanted to buy some Elmlea but can't find in supermarket. Where would it be?

EatDessertFirst Sun 08-Nov-15 21:23:06

Elmlea is an abomination. LTB after you make him drink it all.

QueryQuery Sun 08-Nov-15 21:35:57

And the shitbastard has eaten my pudding. He claims I said I didn't want it. I meant not right that bloody second. No court will convict me, right?

Ragged, I think you'd find it In the chiller cabinet with the real cream. But why on earth would you want it when you could have lovely, lovely real cream?

llhj Sun 08-Nov-15 21:37:47

What exactly is Elmlea. I've always avoided it but not sure why. Is it long life?

ShamelessBreadAddict Sun 08-Nov-15 21:39:14

Yanbu! That's rancid! LTB immidiately.

TiggyD Sun 08-Nov-15 21:40:55

What is Elmlea?

treaclesoda Sun 08-Nov-15 21:41:52

It's faux cream made with something like vegetable oil and milk solids or something like that.

It is both horrific and pointless since it is not actually any healthier or lower in fat than the item it is replacing. Like margarine in that respect I suppose. It's only purpose is to be a poor tasting impersonator.

GoofyIsACow Sun 08-Nov-15 21:42:14

Bad life choices are a huge red flag, save yourself the heartache and ltb... Tonight if possible... grin

VocationalGoat Sun 08-Nov-15 21:42:39

Oh FFS! That is such a bloke thing to do... and on a Sunday. I know your plight. It induces a murderous rage.
And he ate your pudding?
I'm lost for words.

Whatevva Sun 08-Nov-15 21:43:30

It lasts 8 weeks in the fridge hmm

fastdaytears Sun 08-Nov-15 21:43:57

treacle its advantage is it lasts for bloody ages so your puddings need never be naked.

I'm going to be flamed for this hugely but I don't dislike it at all!

Elmlea is horrible, and my in-laws always buy it instead of cream. I think it is long life, perhaps that's the good thing about it. It certainly isn't the taste.

Fink Sun 08-Nov-15 21:46:25

While we're on the topic, the ASA or whoever deals with these things really needs to sort Elmlea out - they disguise their curdled cats' piss as real cream by making the pots look so similar. There blatantly should be some sort of huge warning on the pots (a la cigarette packets - actually keeping it behind a shuttered cabinet would help too). I've nearly bought it twice, thinking it was cream. Luckily, both times my spidey sense told me something was amiss before actually getting to the checkout, but I still have nightmares about my near miss experience.

People who don't know what Elmlea is, you're not missing anything. It's a 'cream substitute' made for people who can't eat dairy. It's made from vegetable fats.

I've just had strawberries and Elmlea, and I enjoyed it!!

* has no shame *
