And for how long? Till birth? First few months?

And what happened? Condom split? Pill failed? Wasn't using any method?

And could it possibly ever happen that someone doesn't know they're pregnant with twins or more?

Sadly it's not me, fertility issues.

Is this based off that TV show "I Didn't Know I was Pregnant."? I watched that and am currently 25 weeks- baby is kicking and moving like mad. I could understand not knowing you are pregnant for the first few months (maybe you have sporadic periods or are on the coil which can stop periods..) but how could anyone not feel a baby kicking and moving around?? I am genuinely curious if anyone has been pregnant and not felt movements.

I have two friends that dint know for quite some time.

One found out at 18 weeks when she had a heavy bleed between periods and was sent to hospital by her GP for investigations. She was 30, no kids, work hard/party hard/boozy lifestyle. It was a HUGE shock, obviously. She had put on about 5 lbs, but had no bump at all and had felt no movements.

Another friend (who its fair to say is very overweight), 40, two teenage kids, found out she was 24 weeks pregnant when she felt a kick and had an 'uh oh' moment.

Both women had 'normal' periods throughout the first 6 months or so of their pregnancies, which is odd but not unheard of.

Both pregnancies resulted in healthy babies Grin, although Friend 2 went into labour at 32 weeks, so only had 8 weeks of actually knowing she was pregnant before the baby arrived Shock

Well I always wondered this, and wondered if especially loudly during my first pregnancy. There was no ignoring , denying or missing h the acrobatics, knees, feet and elbows of DS1, even if my bump was small enough that few colleagues didn't notice I was expecting.

Then one day, when DS1 was 6, I felt this huge rolling movement across my entire abdomen. I was concerned that I was about to develop dysentery or similar. I knew I wasn't pregnant as I was on the pill, had monthly bleeds when due, no sickness, weight gain, tiredness, any kind of bump... Actually at that point I was approx 28 weeks pregnant it turned out. I did a test to rule it out as after the movement began I did put a bit of weight on round my belly.

My midwife examined me and said she estimated 16 weeks... A scan 10 days later showed I was 34 weeks!

I put on 8 pounds during that pregnancy. I have photos of me the day DS2 was born (hastily planned c-section) and I look more pregnant now...

I knew with both of mine as both were very much planned. However in between the two I had an episode of really weird movements in my tummy that felt exactly like a baby kicking. After a massive panic and a negative pregnancy test I ended up down the docs swearing I was going insane. He said it was something like muscles in the bowel contracting. I felt so stupid, but when I was pregnant with my second I obviously got to feel a baby moving again and I felt completely vindicated, it honestly felt exactly like it. I know a couple of other people who've had something similar. So not a story about an unnoticed pregnancy, but a possible explanation how someone could overlook baby movements and put them down to something else.

The baby was born weighing 6lbs 7oz Smile

Tbh I have thought I was pg twice, just because I could feel what felt like movements like when I was pg.

I had 2 friends this happened to. One happen to have quit smoking so put her 10lb weigh gain down to that. She didn't know she was of until she went into labour. She was in pain and woke her mum up. (She was 20) she described the pain and her mum knew it was labour and took her straight in.

The second found out at 26 weeks and the baby was born at 30 weeks, so she knew for 4 weeks.

My dm found out she was pregnant on a Thursday, I was born the Saturday - weighing 4lb 9oz so she thinks the shock pushed her into an early labour Confused
I'd never have believed it if I hadn't seen the pictures of her from a family wedding from 2 weeks earlier, size 10, no bumps etc - baffled.

DC1 was unplanned and i didn't find out i was preg. till about 5/6 months gone.

I remember Dr. saying ''So ... you're having regular sex, you had probs with the pill 6 months ago, you've been sick in the mornings for the last 5 months, your breasts hurt, you feel bloated, you are dead tired and now you've fainted at work. And you haven't taken a pregnancy test because you don't think you're were pregnant ... ?''

In my defense:

I'd been without periods for over a year - just threw up one pill.
I was dieting so that masked weight gain.
I was working long hours in a new job.
It was a very hot summer.
I just .... didn't think i was pregnant Grin

I'm SO envious of people who don't know they're pregnant! There's no mistaking this all-day/all-night sickness for me

BFF didnt know but went right off sex which was not like her and threw up all day long. Dr persuaded her it was gastroenteritis til we insisted she do preg test and turned out she was 5months gone. I didnt know but again , went off sex , my only symptom. Then i realised it was 3months since last period. Then i started with horrendous morning sickness.

I felt indescribably "off" the first few weeks I was pregnant, no sickness my body just didn't feel normal. It was unplanned but I knew something was wrong two weeks in and just "knew" I was pregnant even before I bought the test.

I understand that not everyone is as in tune with their body or has other things going on that could easily explain the symptoms. I just personally have a hard time wrapping my head around it, as I felt every tiny movement from DD from 2nd trimester on.

I knew I was pregnant because I was TTC. But, I get horrific IBS and most of baby's movement feels like wind.

I'm pretty sure there is a live thread in classics where a MNetter was asking about tummy pains and then had a surprise baby Grin

I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 24 weeks. I was 19 at the time, had had no periods for a year prior to this, was on the pill (but liked a drink and get bad hangovers) no weight gain, no bump, anterior placenta that masked early kicking.
With hindsight there was probably signs but I was young and naive. My son was born at 39+5 weighing 7lbs 4oz. I definitely looked pregnant at the end though, I popped at 34 weeks.

I didn't know till I was 6 months gone and then had baby 2 weeks later. No sickness no weight gain and periods all the way through and still took the pill till I found out!

My Mum didn't know about me until nearly 6 months in. I was a 'not enough spermicide on the diaphram' baby :) Or, at least that's the best she can figure as she remembers one time about the correct timeframe when the tube was nearly out.

She was having gyne problems already and seeing a doc about them, so irregular bleeding was no clue. Now that I've been pregnant, and no one could seem to even tell until I was well into 8 months (despite the fact that I had such bad SPD I couldn't walk - people were really startled when I said it was because of pregnancy; I think they figured I'd injured myself somehow), I can see how if she was on contraception and it just wasn't obvious at all. It wasn't until a friend put together her complaints about tiredness with the gyne problems getting worse and told her to ask for a pregnancy test that they found out.

And hey, I had weird kick-sensations too and went to GP Blush Glad to know I'm not the only one.

A friend of mine didn't know until 22 weeks... She was eating lots of crap, so didn't suspect weight gain was abnormal, and on Depo so no periods.

I, on the other hand, was admitted to hospital with dehydration bought on by a really severe tummy bug... That didn't go away for about another eight months!! Turned out to be about 3 weeks pregnant, too early to test, but not too early for the blimmin hyperemesis!

I worked with a woman who didn't find out she was pregnant til she was in labour. Sadly her baby was born terribly poorly and didn't survive. Nobody we knew could possibly believe that she'd not known, but I can see how it's possible.
