I have to work through the Xmas season but I found out my rota this weekend. When are you likely to find out what shifts you are?

YANBU anyway!

I'm working Christmas Eve and the 27th. I know because I work set days (retail) and opted out of Boxing Day/NYD working this year. So I'm working my usual shifts except for those days.

Not this year as on mat leave (yahoo!), but have had one Xmas day off in the last 10 (also mat Hmm I have to take extreme measures to get one off!). Usually find out for def around 1st week of December. The manager who does it is struggling this year and feels it's going to be unpopular, so she's planning to drop it and run before her AL.

DH and DS work in the same place, neither knows if/when they're working over Xmas/New Year. Grr.

DH works every Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. DD knows her shifts already but one of her friends won't find out until 2 weeks before. The year DH wasn't working the rest of his staff were told nearly a year in advance to sort cover out between them. Some companies don't give Rotas until a week or two weeks beforehand.

I'm on mat leave. But have worked the past 4 years. I usually find out in October/ November time but the last 4 years I've not had any annual leave to take so had no choice.

Myself and Dp will find out 6 weeks before when our rosters come out.

Hope it's not both of us.

No, YANBU. People's plans often have knock on effects on other people, particularly over Christmas - I'd want to know by now.

I work in financial services, we close weekends and bank holidays only (so open christmas eve and NYE). This year Im working the whole lot, I didn't ask for time off. People who did ask for time off found out in early October what days they had been given (due to expected work loads not too many people on any one day). If we end up quiet they'll let us go early, but tbh I find it more stressful waiting to go and not knowing when so like last NYE I may well volunteer to be there til the bitter end.

I'm a Midwife and have known my shifts for approx 3 weeks over Christmas.

You should make sure you know what you are expected to work at Xmas. They should tell you now.

Part of the deal I negotiated when starting my new job was that I get the 3 days off between Xmas and New Year. We all get B/Holidays off, so I will be off work for the week.

I don't know yet either. Would like to know now so I can make plans.

It will be a 12.5 hour shift as well.

I haven't found out yet when I will be working but the shifts should be out in the next two weeks.

I've requested to work an early shift (7.30am - 2pm) and I'm just hoping I get it.

I will be working either Christmas Day or Hogmanay/New Years Day and have made a request to be off Christmas but won't find out until the first or second week of December unless the big bosses (who coincidentally don't work either Hmm) decide to give us our rosta early.

I'm working Christmas Eve (morning shift) and Christmas Day (evening)

JammyGem · 02/11/2015 20:40

We used to find out the Monday before if we were working Christmas. Thankfully the system has changed and we now get new rotas every month, so will know by the end of November.
I'm really hoping I don't cop it again this year...

Found out last week.

I'm working Christmas Eve night, then back on nights Boxing Day for the next 4 nights. I'm quite happy with that, was expecting to do Christmas Eve and Christmas Day nights TBH.

Years ago we used to know much earlier, seems to get later and later that they sort out the rota. I'm easy because there is always just me, dh and the dses anyway, but for people trying to fit in trips to family, not knowing can be very frustrating.

We're only closed on the bank holidays so it's names in a hat to see who has to work between Christmas and new year.
We'll find out in the next couple of weeks I think.

Yes - there is only two of us so we work it out amicably between us Smile - and rather unusually neither of us particularly mind working over Christmas/New Year.

In fact being at work is a pleasant alternative to a fraught home atmosphere Grin.

I've approved all annual leave and rotas today. I asked for all requests by the end of last week at the beginning of October. I'm fairly certain there will be complaints from those that didn't put any requests in but they'll have to suck it up.

We had our leave approved middle of October but I work a regular, 9-5 job anyway so it was just annual leave to confirm. I have finish on 23rd December and go back 4 January...I'm so pleased!
