To start another halloween thread?!

But I'm wondering what people do with their kids if they don't want to trick or treat.

We're not keen on the idea of trick or treating, but staying in with a 6 year old who loves Halloween is torture! So we go on a spooky night walk in our local woods.

What do others do?

Aren't there any events or parties on locally? There were a few parties on around here and events at libraries/museums/in the city centre.

We used to do all those when ours were too little to even know what trick or treating was about. Now they're older they have no interest in anything other than trick or treating!

We usually go to the local museum which does fooling for apples and a treasure hunt.

We had a family with young kids move a few doors away, they used to dress up and bring around home baked biscuits to any locals with a pumpkin out. We got biscuits, we gave sweets, it was nice.
