to wonder why people complain that a tv show isn't realistic?

I watch The Walking Dead religiously. People complain about certain things that happen as being unrealistic ... erm so you're fully prepared to watch a show about zombies and accept thats ok?

I remember the amounts of complaints regarding Broadchurch.

It's tv, it's not real life. Its all done for entertainment.

That's hilarious. What exactly did people feel was unrealistic about the dead people walking around eating you show?

waitingforcalpoltowork Thu 29-Oct-15 21:29:57

what irritates me is people who think its real like eastenders is real and corrie is real the people are real people they actually feel sorry for them!

Witchend Thu 29-Oct-15 21:30:12

It depends. I find certain things very irritating..

Things that would be very easy to research and would never be done the way it's shown eg a court case where something clearly wouldn't be allowed in law.

Misrepresentation. For example dd2 has an unusual condition that people know an awful lot about due to things in the media/tv. Only they don't. So I get people, saying "why don't you?have you heard...?"
I can pick after there's been something on tv that's a load of rubbish as people can't wait to tell me about it and I hate it. Because they think they're telling me something new and exciting and I'll never have heard... Except I have and it's not happening.

We all love a moan though my dd argues with her boyfriend about walking dead its very funny urm its zombies calm down grin, over on the eastenders thread we all have a great time ripping it to bits

TV shows aren't meant to be realistic, surely?

Otherwise we'd all be yellow...

I bitched on a Hollyoaks forum a while back that one of the plots was dragging and I was finding it really dull watching them rehash over the same old shit.

Someone had a go at me telling me that in real life these situations do go on for months and it was more realistic that way.

She was absolutely right. But it's telly. Entertainment. It's not supposed to be just like real life.

MrsJayy Thu 29-Oct-15 21:35:15

Didnt Dr foster say her son died though thats a twist.

BathshebaDarkstone Thu 29-Oct-15 21:35:33

Although I have a sneaking suspicion that the Silence from Doctor Who are real. I mean, how would you know? <shudders>

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes Thu 29-Oct-15 21:36:14

Game Of Thrones is basically Jeremy Kyle with a good hairdresser and some fancy dresses.

That's quite realistic if you pretend the dragons are hamsters or something.

MrsJayy Thu 29-Oct-15 21:36:37

Isnt there always serial killers in hollyoaks ?

MrsJayy Thu 29-Oct-15 21:38:09

The silence was terrifying though they so couldbe real

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes Thu 29-Oct-15 21:38:35

Isnt there always serial killers in hollyoaks?

Not always.

Been two in the last few years. They both wore special murder gloves.

Lots of accidents, though. Which are frequently human error.

I saw a thing online the other day about someone doing medical research in one of those places where people have donated their bodies to be used after their death. They study decomposition in all its glorious forms <boak>. They said that generally a lot of the innards turn to gas and liquid and burst out. So all the walkers in TWD really ought to be shuffling around like rotten apples, just bags of liquid on bones. Except that wouldn't give them the ability to walk and bite through thick human skin so I guess it wouldn't have the same effect.

They certainly wouldn't be able to see, their eyes would have dried up long ago. And their teeth would have fallen out of their gums. And rigamortis would have had much more of an effect, rendering them unable to move. So they ought to be sad little bags of mush laying around everywhere, unable to move or see.

Not quite as scary though. Or contagious.

Btw I love TWD. grin

I've been to many court cases and they can drag and be very boring.

If people wanted to go and watch real court case then they could very easily do that.

I don't think tv has to be that accurate.

MrsJayy Thu 29-Oct-15 21:45:19

I complain about the women in these survival dramas started in Lost sexy vest tops the men and ugly womenwink are all wrapped up i n the rain not the sexy herioine in her sexy vest top though

AwfulBeryl Thu 29-Oct-15 21:46:19

i haven't seen Holyoakes for years, but the plot always seemed the same.
Murderer on the loose or lose if we want to annoy the grammarists. [goady fucker]
Some sort of dodgy shit going down at the night club.
Hardworking family trying to stay out of trouble in he pub.
A school leaver becomes a teacher at the school they left 6 weeks ago
Shagging and drinking
Secret / dramatic pregnancy.
Some other lighthearted crap.

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes Thu 29-Oct-15 21:50:37

Rigrmortis does wear off, so they'd be floppy sad bags of mush with no sight or teeth.

Poor buggers...

MrsJayy Thu 29-Oct-15 21:50:50

Last timei watched hollyoaks tom was a baby dd now tellsme he has ababy is he not 12 or something

MrsJayy Thu 29-Oct-15 21:51:48

MrsJayy Thu 29-Oct-15 21:52:37
