And she is desperately trying to loose weight for her wedding. I usually wouldn't comment on what another adult eats. But I think she maybe very clueless to the amount of calories and has probably just eaten one thousand , what she should have for the whole day just for breakfast.

Should I say something?

She needs to get off the humourless, for one thing, and start eating funny.

Don't comment or she might loose even more of her sense of humour? Commenting on someone else's diet is only for the brave.

YANBU. Humorless for breakfast will make her whole day go sour.

Is she on an eating plan like weight watchers or slimming world? What's she eating might be within her foods allowance.

Why would she just have 1000 calories for the day?
I don't know, I'd probably discuss it a bit with her first rather than just coming straight out with it. It depends on how she will take it really.

I wouldn't say anything tbh as I'm a chicken! I know someone who will eat a 200g bar of chocolate and genuinely wonders why she doesn't lose weight because she ate 3 pieces of fruit the same day!

No don't say anything.

If you wanted to help you could suggest she use My Fitness Pal to log her food and set a weight loss goal?

1000 cals is half your daily calorie requirement not all of it. You would eventually starve to death on 1000 cals a day.

It's a chick pea dip? Who knew!

And 'girls'? Really?

Stop being so nosy - none of your business what anyone eats.

She's following some natural eating vegab diet, Ella, but I think she is clueless to the important thing that even if it is all healthy the calories matter the most.

Think I'll stay quiet, might mention my fitness app

Oh right hummus, a chick pea dip. Thanks for explaining, don't think anyone realised.

You wouldn't stave on 1ooo calories a day if you have large far deposits.

Err no! OP you have a point in that your friend, like many, has a skewed idea of what is healthy and what will lead to weight loss. But it's probably best to prioritise the friendship over her weight loss and not say a thing.

If she's trying to lose weight that's a terrible breakfast. If you're her friend I don't see the problem in pointing her in the right direction so that she succeeds.
She'd be mush better off having something like a poached egg with a slice of wholemeal toast.

Is she exercising?

I've just lost five stone, I'm Vegan.

I did calorie count via MyFitnessPal but didn't always stick within the calories.

I've found that the effect of regular exercise and eating proper food, worked, even if I went over my 1200 calories.

I ate and eat Hummus as your friend does.

Wait and see if there's any weight loss, before you say anything.

If you think an adult should be eating a 1000 calories a day, though, you don't know enough to be of any help.

Oh leave her to it. She will twig eventually when she isn't losing weight. Maybe say something like "how many calories are in that brand? Might switch to that one if its better than my usual" and then hope she notices if you really must make her starve for the rest of the day.

Tbh I'm quite impressed that anyone can eat that amount of hummous and rice cakes at this hour, I'm borking just thinking if it.

If she's following an eating plan and is sticking to that eating plan with what she has just eaten then she will lose weight.

Eventually she'll need to reduce her portion size as she gets smaller but at the start of the process it's about changing habits and making 'good' choices when selecting the type of food you want to eat, portion control comes in at a later point.

And I agree that 1000 calories isn't necessarily half of what a woman needs per day. I'm only 5ft 2, if I ate 2000 calories a day I would be the size of a house.

2000 calories is an average intake and you have to take into account the amount of exercise you do.

It all depends what she eats for the rest of the day. I like a big breakfast, don't eat lunch and eat a snack for tea.
