My dd constantly uses the word "like" multiple times in sentences, it's slowly driving me insane. Iv asked her so many times to not use the word unless it's actually needed in the sentence. To make matters worse she never ever stops talking so we must here "like" a thousand times a day. So aibu to either charge her 10p for every time she says it, or gag her? Is this something that's happening with most kids of today?

Not U at all....my friend says "generally" instead of "genuinely" and it drives me nuts. I told her that every time she does it I will flick her on the head

She needs an electric shock every time she says it. It's a very quick and effective form of aversion therapy. Can you get hold of a taser somehow?

The other one that makes my blood boil is "for free"

It is either free. Or for nothing.

Sell your car for free? I don't have a free. And if I sell my car, I will sell it for £3,000. Or whatever a fair price is at the time of selling.

OP it's a modern day affliction. I'm a TA and all the children say it when asked a question in a sharing part of a lesson. Every answer starts with, "It's like when you like errr like, you know it's like....."

My pet hate is the misuse of the word, 'Invite' when it should be 'Invitation' it makes me cringe every time.

It is more than welcome to bugger off back over the pond . Where can a responsible parent buy a taser from? she never shuts up long enough to do the washing up. Chester draws has cheered me up

Brought instead of bought. Usually it's possible to tell from the context what the person actually means, but this one has caused so much confusion on several occasions when someone has said they brought something yesterday and no-one being able to find it and panicking, when actually they had ordered it online so it hadn't been delivered.

Mine used to get a little flick everytime she added random likes to a sentence she is 17 now and doesn't happen very often, maybe the flick therapy worked.
It seemed to peak between the ages of 12 to 15.
Does that give you any hope?

I love that rainbow will try it on my DD tonight. We always get at least 100 ;miles over dinner. Flick therapy sounds like at least it'll be fun for me
