I am being unreasonable. Are you?

So I have this hand soap. It is not expensive, but it is lovely. Almond and hibiscus. It makes my hands feel so nice. I like to wash them with it before I go out, because when I do, I forget that my hair looks like Medusa on a bad day and my weirdly belated post-pregnancy pot belly is showing. I feel like She of the Softer Than Fairy Liquid Hands. I feel like I could play tennis in a period advert.

Yesterday my MIL 'helpfully' filled my half full bottle of magic hand soap with FUCKING TAP WATER so that it would last longer.

It now has the consistency of curdled milk and my hands no longer feel soft and lovely. I am Medusa with a pot belly and there will be no tennis playing for me.

I know I'm being unreasonable, and she was only trying to help. She is lovely. But she has to die, right?

Anyone else have any unreasonable grievances to share?

That is a completely bizarre thing to do.

I'm going to swap all my nice hand-wash for cheap rubbish ones incase anyone tried to "help" me.

YANBU shock

NineWest Thu 08-Oct-15 20:32:10

That's is absolutely terrible! What an odd thing to do. Can you get anymore of beloved hand wash...?

JeffsanArsehole Thu 08-Oct-15 20:33:17

Buy more. Carry it round with you to protect it.

Maybe on a belt.

Iagreewithmrsdevere Thu 08-Oct-15 20:34:06

I hate helpy fuckers with their fucking helping. Kill the bitch

arizonamaybe Thu 08-Oct-15 20:34:09

You definitely should, Anchor, as it is a growing pandemic -- MIL did it because she saw someone else doing it, and my alleged best friend admitted to me (when I sent her an email expressing my outrage) that she does it too! All the time! WTF?!

None of us are safe. Lock up your naice handsoap before it's too late!

Weathergames Thu 08-Oct-15 20:34:40

I fill the soap with water blushblush

Sorry sad

MrsTerryPratchett Thu 08-Oct-15 20:34:48

I have a green tea one. I saw, out of the corner of my eye, DH doing something to it. I actually shouted. He was so confused. "I really like the smell, don't refill it with the other one" I muttered, feeling ridiculous.

<high-fives OP in smelly loveliness>

CassieBearRawr Thu 08-Oct-15 20:36:04

I do it when I get right to the end of mine to get every last scrap out of it. I love my handwash, it smells luvverly.

MinecraftWonder Thu 08-Oct-15 20:36:46

I do it to shock . I fill it up with water when it's about two thirds gone.

BUT mine is just standard whatever's-on-offer-when-I-buy-it handwash, so I don't mind.

To do it to your magic stuff is clearly bu.

arizonamaybe Thu 08-Oct-15 20:36:49

Ooh, the belt thing is a good idea! There should be a field guide, really, for dealing with this manner of fuckery. A bit like that World War Z book.

MinecraftWonder Thu 08-Oct-15 20:37:09

I do it too that is.

Salmotrutta Thu 08-Oct-15 20:37:27

Like a gunslingers belt Jeff?

I bet the OP could totally rock that look - and she could have two hand soaps.

One for each holster.

Like Quick Draw McGraw.

arizonamaybe Thu 08-Oct-15 20:40:28

Minecraft mine was a limited edition. Alright, technically it was also on offer, and that is why I bought it, but it also means that I can't get any more ever sad

I am highly freaked out by the number of people who have already come forward to admit to being hand soap interferers, however. The problem is worse than I thought!

Weathergames Thu 08-Oct-15 20:42:06

The water pushes the last bit out of the pump thingy blush

Oysterbabe Thu 08-Oct-15 20:43:17

Why the hell are people putting water in their soap?
None of you lot are invited to tea.

arizonamaybe Thu 08-Oct-15 20:43:48

^ Enemy propaganda

arizonamaybe Thu 08-Oct-15 20:44:39

Apologies, Oysterbabe! That was directed at Weathergames!

StrawberrytallCake Thu 08-Oct-15 20:46:09

Not right.

Out of interest as you mentioned it - how belated is your post pregnancy pot belly? Mine is 3 years now, it is quite late but I'm sure it is related.

NotMeNotYouNotAnyone Thu 08-Oct-15 20:46:48

I do it BUT I live alone and certainly wouldn't do it to someone else's! I only do it if I'm running out of soap and forget to buy some. My mum used to do it when I lived with her cause my sister has OCD and gets through a bottle of soap in a couple of days

TheIncredibleBookEatingManchot Thu 08-Oct-15 20:50:57

My mum used to fill shampoo bottles with water to make them last longer when I was young. So basically I was wetting my hair with warm water from the shower, pouring cold water from the bottle over it then rinsing it off again with warm water.

Jenjii Thu 08-Oct-15 20:51:48

Dh does this when it gets nearly empty 'to get it all out'. It enrages me so much that I monitor the hand wash situation carefully and intercept before it gets to the stage where I think he might top it up. I throw the bottle out early (without him noticing) and replace with a new one therefore making the perceived hand wash waste even worse but avoiding the yuckiness of watery soap. If we ever divorce I wonder if one of us will cite unreasonable hand wash behaviour as a causeconfused

arizonamaybe Thu 08-Oct-15 20:51:56

2 years, StrawberrytallCake -- it went away quite quickly initially, I think because I was breastfeeding, then DS stopped breastfeeding for a few months, then started again as a comfort thing when poorly with a virus, which is when the pot belly arrived. I'm desperately trying to wean him off but my god, he wakes up at 5am and doesn't nap - the breastfeeding gets me an extra hour in bed so I'm not trying very hard!

Irosstaketheerachel Thu 08-Oct-15 20:51:59

Oh God my ex husband used to inexplicably do this. Can you divorce your MIL OP?

I was reasonably grieved at the person behind me in my step class this evening who insisted on placing their step two feet away so I kept crashing into it when I reversed; I ended up turning round and pushing it away before realising it was a slightly overweight teenage boy behind me blush

Or am I unreasonable for being stuck in a 90's timewarp fitness class? confused
