I can't recall having ever heard her speak let enough to conclude that she seems smug.
What are you basing this on?

I think we all have a couple of celebrity type people that we find irrationally annoying for no real reason, so YANBU.

Personally, I think Kate is lovely, but I can't stand Lee Evans, Sandi Togsvic (no, I don't know how to spell it properly) or Keith lemon.

Who cares? Is she actually impacting you in any way?

I can't think of anyone I don't know that I've taken a dislike to - precisely because I don't know them.

Never heard her say anything, never seen her do anything, so can't really judge.

She seems fine to me. Never bothers me, doesn't call when I'm busy, is nowhere near as shaming as that poor boy's disgraceful mother.

Keith Lemon isn't a real person, it's a character played by the comedian Leigh Francis.

Granted, a really unfunny and irritating character, but it might be comforting to know that Osolea Grin

I don't think she is smug, and I don't find her annoying, but I don't feel that she is deserving of her prominent position. I don't think she has achieved enough in life so far to be a respected public figure or a role model.

She is rather bland, that is all.

Another Sandi Toksvig hater here.

But Radiator, that doesn't make sense. She was marrying Prince William. Did you expect him to marry someone who was already a respected public figure or role model? She was only in her twenties when she married him. What do you think she should have achieved? Yes, she could've had a job, but do you not respect people without jobs?

What makes you think shes smug?

I don't really have much of an opinion on her because she rarely speaks.

She gets criticised for not being more public, and then if she did she would be constantly compared to Diana.

She chose that life, but I still don't think it's easy.

Seems pleasant enough, maybe a bit dull.

If I'd bagged a Prince, had cleaners and nannies, gazillions of £££, fit into size 8 jeans, was able to swan around in a pretty frock hours after giving birth without wincing and had swooshy hair I'd be pretty fecking smug.

Her parents earmarked William for her as a child then did everything they could to make it happen. It's no fairy tale, it was social climbing at its most extreme.

I can take or leave her, she adds or takes nothing from my life.

ImperialBlether · 27/09/2015 13:30

That's irrelevant, though, DisappointedOne. There are thousands of girls whose parents were hoping for a royal match. There was no reason for the Middletons to think they would succeed there - they weren't titled or even particularly rich. Wishful thinking is just that.

And regarding social climbing... do you think people should stay within the social strata they were born into?

Report
SaucyJack · 27/09/2015 13:31

Um, don't you think it's rather up to William as to whether she's deserving of the "role"?

I don't mind her as it happens. I think it's rather refreshing that he married a commoner who buys her knickers from Gap.

It's not irrelevant though, is it?

Joffery. The rest yes I full agree, not going to put asn argument forward as I don't have one, but I'm intrigued, How do you know gave birth without wincing, where you in the delivery room with her. Are you a royal midwife.?

I know two people who had to spend a lot of time with her (and William and Harry) recently. W&H were really nice, interested, engaged with what was going on etc. According to friend, Kate was eye-rolling, wooden, bored and giving death stares to anyone not fawning over her.

They practically squashed any opportunity for an interesting personality in order to get her ready for the role.
