AIBU?

AIBU to think that if you order Chicken, Bacon and Avocado salad...

It should have some flipping avocado in it? Even a tiny bit?

Just been out for dinner at that Chiquitos Mexican chain place (Shit-eatos it should be called, all restaurants of this ilk are not my choice ever but the DC wanted to go there and we were in a hurry) and I ordered the chicken, bacon and avocado salad and it turned up with no avocado.

Apprently the kitchen had run out even though it's a Mexican theme chain and they must have gallons guacamole for the fajitas and they never thought to offer me any of that instead so they just decided without consulting me that they'd serve my 3 MAIN NAMED INGREDIENT salad without one of the main ingredients. Hmm

I really hate it when restaurants do this. It happens to me a lot. I recently ate somewhere where the halloumi salad that arrived in front of me was doused in a warm spicy tomato sauce (not mentioned in the description at all on the menu at all) buy totally minus the rocket salad it should have come with, as per the description.

It's not on. It's not. AIBU?

Yanbu.

Quite a dull op though. Presumably you complained and they refunded you?

Yes, they made your salad better. Grin

I know it's dull Mintyy but i needed to get it off my chest because IT KEEPS HAPPENING TO ME, like several times this year so far, and I am starting to despair of all restaurants that do this and think they can get away with it. Just because it's not a Michelin starred place doesn't mean basic standards and common courtesy should not apply.

I am grumpy today. Grin

You are labouring under the misapprehension that the green gloop they serve with the fajitas has ever seen a real avocado. I bet it's delivered in tubs...

YABU avocados are nasty things, they nearly killed me a few months ago and I shudder if I so much as think about them and their slimy promises of health. So, just for that reason I'm saying you are BU! Anything missing avocado is an improvement !

oh you poor thing. I made tacos last night and the two beautifully ripe avocados were the best bit!

How does any avocado nearly kill you? Was it hiding behind a door in a ninja style outfit waiting to ambush you with a machete?

Anyone else thinking a fiver off is quite a result ?! How much was the salad in the first place ?!!

Did you stab yourself in your hand taking out the stone? My friend did that and the hospital told her it's an alarmingly common injury

Chain restaurants make everything to a strict formula, they can't improvise or deviate or the world will blow up Grin

I always stick the point of a very sharp knife into an avocado half and sort of flick it out, putting a bit of pressure on the knife handle to get some good leverage.

I can totally see how this could land one in A&E.

Not only is most of the guacamole delivered 'in tubs', it is delivered frozen AND 'in tubs'. I know, yum, right?!

OP, tripadvisor the arse out of them. I have worked for chains in the past (chef) and they come down hard on TA reviews. Yours would be a non-negotiable.

laffy i remember once going to a chain pub with DP and he wanted some peas with his main course instead of whatever they were serving it with. They did sell peas, with loads of things - just not with what he was having.

It simply could not be done. It was a step too far. It would have broken Brake Brothers, obviously.

Perhaps they didn't give me any avocado due to new health and safety regulations. Confused

I once tried to remove an avocado stone the way I'd seen XH (chef) do it- i.e hold half avocado in left palm, use largest possible knife and thwack the blade on stone, gracefully flicking the stone out and off the knife in one smooth move.

It did not end well for me. And, by the way, who knew that palms could bleed so effusively and for so long?

Fucking disgrace. But as you say, it's a shit place to eat

Can't wait for Wahaca to spread its wings. Their guac is to die for. I always end up ordering a second portion. One of the many reasons my career as a swimwear model hadn't taken off!

Avocados are amazing. After a lazy breakfast of avo on toast, i ordered 3/5 of a joint tapas meal with dh today based on them at Los iguanas. Ignore the haters. YANBU. But up your choice of Mexican restaurant if you can. (Completely understand if finances/location do not allow though).

HW - always done meal deal at wahaca, may well pop in tomorrow to try out their guac. I have no chance of swimwear or any other kind of modelling!

YABU. Why would you eat in Chiquitos? There is never a valid reason for this.

BTW, in New Zealand I chanced upon a BLAT, basically a BLT but with avocado. It was amazing and is a regular lazy dinner in our house.

Still puzzled why the modelling career hasn't worked for me, I should look like delicious ella with all this avo (must be the bacon). Hmm
