AIBU?

To think I am actually quite lucky?

I have been reading a lot of these posts, about interfering parents/in-laws...

GPs feeding crap to toddlers
PILs treating houses as their own homes

I don't get any of this grief.

My sister asks what dcs need at birthday /Christmas
My GPs ask what we would like for dinner when we visit, including treats/snacks

Ok, they all live at least 150 miles away, so generally only see them in school holidays.

Even the ex was reasonable when we saw him last week, and his mother didn't try to feed too many sausage rolls to the wheat-intolerant toddler!

I am sure things will go wrong next week, but for today, I am feeling fairly happy.

Hope some of you are happy too?

The 150 mile distance sounds like the key to happiness. Just far enough so you don't have to do the everyday shit, not so far that you have to faff around with flights etc.

My Mum can get a little over-cosy sometimes, but apart from that, all my family are ace.

Yes..... ish. My ILs are very naice people. Excellent hosts and they wouldn't dream of interfering in anything.

But if one were to whinge (not that I would of course Wink ) they're a little too hands off. They were telling us about a nice park they'd visited that they thought DD3 would like. DH suggested that they should pick her up and take her there themselves one day...... and they looked at him like he tried to shit in the lemon meringue.

Still. Shouldn't grumble. Worse happens at sea yadda yadda yadda.

I think I'm lucky that there's an ocean between me and my in-laws. It makes life so much easier.

ha ha- me too Katedotness1963. Only joking, my in-laws are pretty good, apart from the odd cultural difference which requires some boundary setting (we have very different definitions of personal space) lol

I'm lucky as I'm really close to my Mum, my Hubby can be a miserable bugger sometimes, but he does truely love me & the boys & my in-laws live abroad half the year!

The only problem I have is that my Mum & Brother don't talk to my Dad & Step-mum, so I have to walk on eggshells if we go to visit them (not telling Mum/Brother, as it upsets them).

My parents and in laws live 180 miles away in different directions. This was all great until my parents got into their mid/late 80s and Alzheimer's cropped up too. Now I really wish I was much nearer Sad
