UGHHH.
recently set up as self employed so have been networking throughout my area. I'm a tattoo artist renting a chair as well as working full time (Looking to go fully self employed once i've built up a good enough rep) since I set up for some reason I've ended up with a gazillion and one forever living reps on my business page, at least 4 a day message my business and or/personal page (deliberately connected to business page) and even one got hold of my number somehow (not online) still baffled about that. I deal with messages like this (actual copy and paste but names omitted)
Aloe shite rep.
Hi YUDO, i hope you don't mind me messaging you.
You popped up on my newsfeed & I noticed you are self employed like me. I started a business recently through a brill company named forever living (which fits in with the industry you are currently in) working from home for an extra income which fits in perfectly with my 3 children, work & all of my other commitments.
From what I can see on your profile you seem to be the type of person that does really well in this type of business, I thought I could pop you a 5 minute link to see if it's maybe for you or not.
I may be wrong, it might not be for you but only you know that. Let me know if you've got 5 & I'll send you the short link to have a nosey at!

Or...... I could build up my own business with hard graft and not purchase a hundred pound kit of shitty aloe that I can get from pound stretchers? Logistically, If I sold 1000 of products a month (Would need to be glued to a laptop or phone!) I'd earn 200 pounds in commission. 50 quid a week. for being glued to my laptop... I suppose I could make false claims and guilt trip hormonal new mams into joining though.. that'd get me a bonus... mmm. how about no?

I then quickly blocked her and 5 minutes later got another message (which i just blocked right off the bat, engaging makes me too angry but sometimes I just can't resist!) also no bloody idea how sticking needles in someone over and over is anything similar to flogging forever living but there we go. AIBU to not have attempts to recruit me all the blooming time? I've had similar off yonique but after a few thanks but no thanks messages they've buggered off, had it off actiderm once and promptly said i use their products already and enjoy them (true) but would never join, got left alone since then (probably don't want to upset a happy customer...might be an idea for future?) but forever living just WON'T let up. I honestly am considering making a complaint but don't know if I can.. Its bad enough seeing their shit everywhere...
PS if you're a forever living rep, only comment about your 50k a year and company car if you want to get ripped to shreds. I just started my period.

1st reply from you: No thanks
2nd reply from you: No thanks
3rd reply from you: No thanks

Don't engage with people who are invested in a cult.

ollieplimsoles Fri 14-Aug-15 10:04:07

Whatever you say you wont get through to them, just block them and move on.

Why do they always seem to target new mums too?! Or mums to young children! And they always say 'you will have sooo much time to spend with your family'

YUDOTHIS Fri 14-Aug-15 10:04:09

I know I shouldn't engage however I just get extremely irked about it and can't help myself :C especially when I'm already upset (not period related XD).

YUDOTHIS Fri 14-Aug-15 10:05:22

Ollie- If you have DC's just think of how mentally and physically vulnerable you were (Some more or less so) if someone had said to you back then "earn a thousand pounds a month and still spend all of your time with DC's" You'd be ALOT more likely to go for it than the working mum of a 10 year old

penny13610 Fri 14-Aug-15 10:05:38

grin Just imagine if she was also a tattoo artist. A client would come in for a small shoulder motif and leave with a full sleeve.
YANBU
Well done for letting the rant out

YUDOTHIS Fri 14-Aug-15 10:07:10

Were after birth* stupid phone likes to delete sentences for some reason.
Penny grin

StickyProblem Fri 14-Aug-15 10:10:45

I love you YUDO!

It's so, so wrong that FL target new mums. Yeah right, all those women (like me) who go back to work after a few months to pay the mortgage are deluded, selfish workaholics. Because flogging crap via Facebook to your family and friends is so much easier and pays better. NOT.

Hamiltoes Fri 14-Aug-15 10:11:30

There training day teaches them:

No isn't a no, its just a "not right now" haha, and then gives them a timeline for how often they should message to check its still a "not right now".

I actually feel a bit sorry for them, most are obviously desperate as they're laying out loads of money for something which is quite obviously shite.

It doesn't even have nice branding or packaging- thats the bit that really gets me hmm its as if the bosses at FL don't really give a fuck. "Hey lets create a product that literally grows on trees, use pound shop packaging, and try to get new mums to flog it for 100x whats its actually worth!" laughs all the way to the bank

SalemSaberhagen Fri 14-Aug-15 10:14:50

A girl I know has messaged me four times asking me to join her Younique 'team'.

Then she keeps posting that she is recruiting 'so many ladies to this amazing opportunity #sisterhood'

Obviously not that many if she keeps hassling me!

ChristmasZombie Fri 14-Aug-15 10:24:06

Ugh, I keep getting unsolicited messages from women asking me to join their Younique or Forever Living team! Apparently flogging this stuff on Facebook can replace the full time professional job I spent 5 years at university training for...
Just keep blocking them and focus on what you're doing yourself. Being a tattoo artist is much cooler anyway!

MrsCs Fri 14-Aug-15 10:24:36

A lass I work with is doing this. Both of us are on maternity leave at the moment. The thing is she is such a lovely, lovely person I read her posts and advertising (clearly not getting many orders) and feel really sad she has been sucked into this. These people are bloody evil for targeting women like her.

Arkkorox Fri 14-Aug-15 10:25:21

Yes! I had this on facebook yesterday, I posted asking for suggestions of things to help with my daughters eczema without trying steroid cream as she's still tiny and got FOUR pms of people trying recruit me to sell the Aloe shite. Amusingly enough the only people that suggested the FL stuff were the ones that sell it grin

YANBU
That exchange made me laugh a lot though grin
Best of luck with the inking!

YUDOTHIS Fri 14-Aug-15 10:33:44

Ark- Not advertising but a product by Actiderm helped my eczema a bit, you'd need to check if its suitable for children obviously but i'm more than happy to recommend a product if you want to pm me. feeling like a rep now, oops
MrsC- I feel for your friend sad it happened to my cousin (not with FL though) but she ended up losing out big time. they try to get there own reps buying loads of products to "Show customers" and "do parties" before you know it you've ordered 500 pounds of products you can't afford and will never shift :/ its sad but it pisses me off at the same time. In fact I've actually ordered products from people I've felt sorry for :/ including younique and aloe shite both shit .Don't make a habit of it but its crap to see.

Sallyhasleftthebuilding Fri 14-Aug-15 10:33:46

Ark ... Sorry can I suggest the aloe vera plant, in its natural form? Break a leaf, apply, 3 times a day for a few days. Job done. (Sorry love aloe Vera plant - FL not so much)

Dowser Fri 14-Aug-15 10:38:24

I reside on another planet.

Thought header had a typo and it was a rant on living alone....forever .

Arkkorox Fri 14-Aug-15 10:39:39

Thank you both for the suggestions, we ended up using one dose of the steroid cream just to knock it on the head ( which it has) but I would like a long term solution to keep it at bay ( and for my use too, 26 years and still not got rid of it )

I actually hadn't thought About an aloe plant!

YUDO I'll pm you.

And stop derailing your thread grin

Sallyhasleftthebuilding Fri 14-Aug-15 10:43:09

Son had very bad eczema on his legs, honestly a few days of the plant and he hasn't had it back there since. DD has a reaction to sun cream and I use the aloe Vera one - see amazon - not FL and she has beautiful soft skin all summer.

Sallyhasleftthebuilding Fri 14-Aug-15 10:43:56

Son was 18 months now nearly 11

Sallyhasleftthebuilding Fri 14-Aug-15 10:46:20

This think the do it in 50 now as well. Shame we haven't had much use for it!

bananaandcustard Fri 14-Aug-15 11:02:42

FL is really not worth buying for eczema. I went to one of those selling parties and read all the ingredients on its eczema range.
Very similar to prescription creams, apart from the small amount of aloe vera, and perfume and possibly colour.

people say it works because they buy it and use it regularly, and because they have spent an evening being told about its magical qualities.

GPs often forget to mention that creams need to be applied frequently throughout the day and heavily to keep skin hydrated.

save money get from GP and get some eczema advice from national eczema society or allergy uk.

Ugh, I hate bloody Forever Living / Avon / Younique nonsense! I have a few people on Facebook that do it (I ignore), and one really good friend who does the Avon / Younique stuff. A former colleague did Forever Living and came in after leaving work to 'visit' us, but actually tried to flog it to all, and used someone's laptop to do a mass email to try and sell some. She was escorted off the premises...

On the subject of Eczema, the best thing I've found in ten years is the hemp products the Body Shop do, their hemp hand cream is the only thing that sorts it out, much better than E45 in my opinion!

Sallyhasleftthebuilding Fri 14-Aug-15 11:09:34

Sorry OP YABU at missing a business opportunity, you need to offer a Half price FL logo tattoo on their forehead, and a percentage throw back on any further business they send your way. Alternatively ... FL rep you have spent 20 mins texting me,those are 20 mins of your children's lives you will never get back ... Please see to them immediately.
