cat use human toilet?

i was looking for a cat litter tray and came across a cat toilet training kit. it has 3 different size rings that sit over the human toilet. bit like what toddlers use i guess. and it means your cat can use the toliet as well. would you let your cat use the family toilet?

It's a great idea. I don't think anyone has ever trained one to flush afterwards though.

I have heard through friends that they know someone who trained their cat to use the toilet but assumed it was crap.

As a cat owner the words cat and training are hugely at odds with each other.

my cat used the family toilet ages ago. but i never trained him to. only ever see him do it once though

Our cat used to use the bidet. It was the perfect size for a cat toilet and no one else ever used it.
Sadly we have now moved to a bidet-less house so she has to piss in a tray/garden or over the hole in the bath, though we actively discourage that

now i dont know weather to let my cat shit in everyones gardens. or to toilet train him.

when my kids get up for a wee during the night they might just pee on the cat litter :/

My cat was human-toilet trained when I adopted him and it was great for me - very hygienic, low maintenance etc. however over time I traced a few behavioural and health issues down to it (I won't go in to detail for fear of being graphic but can if you would like!) and now use a litter box instead. Basically I realised that I was benefitting but my cat was suffering..

My sister has a cat toilet thing that's plumbed into the mains. All 3 cats use it.

She's in the US. She got it from Craig's List, works a treat apparently. I think it flushes as they get off or something I stopped listening about half an hour into her explaining

It would be great if all cats would do this but I'm sure there is some reason cat crap shouldn't go down the toilet.

Something to do with certain parasites they carry not being killed off at waste treatment plants?

Here is an article explaining it. Basically the parasite is killing otters and they think it's the flushing of cat crap that is causing it.
