Neighbours noise - who's unreasonable?

My ndn is obviously working an early shift at the moment, she has gone out at 6.30 the last two mornings. Her front door is a few feet away from our (open) bedroom window. Yesterday we were awoken by her banging on her door or window and shouting through to her partner. This morning she woke me shouting at the dog or baby to get back in. I slightly lost it and shouted at her from my window - asking if she could not shout that early - yes I do see the irony of that! I don't think I was rude to her, inappropriate timing?, probably! But she stood and shouted a lot of abuse, including about our music on at 10pm - this has maybe happened twice in the 9 months she's lived here. Which, is about the same amount of times she has had music playing in the evening - which I have no problem with. She had her music thumping out at 7.30am the other week. Her OH manages to leave the house without waking up the neighbourhood! They have a puppy of about 10 weeks that they leave to cry. Rambling now, but trying not to drip feed! Wondering if I ought to apologise for shouting out the winos when she gets home?

Delilahfandango Mon 10-Aug-15 08:35:45

The window not the winos!!confused

KinkyAfro Mon 10-Aug-15 08:37:14

You sound as bad as each other really, maybe she's pissed off with your music at 10.00 p.m. at night, I know I would be

Delilahfandango Mon 10-Aug-15 08:39:46

The music at 10 has happened twice - when friends have been round!

StillStayingClassySanDiego Mon 10-Aug-15 08:41:45

Well twice that has pissed her off.

Apologise for your shouting and see if you can have a chat without ripping each other's heads off

daisydukes229 Mon 10-Aug-15 08:43:47

Both sound as bad as each other tbh. I'd apologise and try to get back onto good terms, being enemies with a neighbour is never fun

MissJoMarch Mon 10-Aug-15 08:43:54

Well, from your post it seems like she has only woken you twice (obligatory exclamation marks removed)

6.30am isn't early. Wind your neck in and stop shouting at your neighbours like a fishwife

MoralityPlay Mon 10-Aug-15 08:48:26

6:30 is early confused

As suggested by a PP, I'd apologise and try and get back on friendly terms.

10 is too late for loud music and 7:30 is too early, perhaps you can agree some times.

JassyRadlett Mon 10-Aug-15 08:48:28

6.30am isn't early.

In what world?!

OP, YABU to shout out your window at her - no matter what you said, that's rude! But YANBU about the noise, especially on a Sunday. However, you're more likely to get a good result if you're calm and civil.

WickedWax Mon 10-Aug-15 08:48:30

All your other neighbours must be delighted with you both, having a shouting match at 6.30am.

Delilahfandango Mon 10-Aug-15 08:50:01

I will apologise, I don't want to fall out with anyone!, I agree, 6.30 is not that early, but it is when you're on holidaywink there is a constant level of noise that we haven't experienced with previous neighbours, so it's a new thing to us.

maddy68 Mon 10-Aug-15 08:50:22

6.30 is not early

I think you should apologise. You will a
Ways get house when you live near other people
I'm sure you are equally annoying

JassyRadlett Mon 10-Aug-15 08:50:37

Oh - and if you're having people round and are going to have loud music on late, it's good to let the neighbours know in advance. It helps to emphasise that it's a one off.

That said, I haven't felt the need for loud music just because friends are round for many moons now...

maddy68 Mon 10-Aug-15 08:51:00

Grr always get noise. Bloody iPad

KinkyAfro Mon 10-Aug-15 08:52:11

To those that are saying 6.30 isn't early - WHAT? Of course it's early, you wouldn't start hoovering or cutting the grass at that time. Just because you might be up for work/kids, doesn't mean it isn't early

Delilahfandango Mon 10-Aug-15 08:54:03

Tbh, the evening music wouldn't be that loud and would not go on past 11.

StillStayingClassySanDiego Mon 10-Aug-15 08:55:27

Not loud according to you, maybe if your neighbours were in bed early they might disagree.

mileend2bermondsey Mon 10-Aug-15 08:56:40

Isn't 11pm the cut off for loud music/general loudness and 7am is when you can start being a bit noisy again? I dunno. Either way, follow MissJ's advice and stop making a scene and ask politely if your that arsed.

Or, controversially, shut your bloody window!!

KinkyAfro Mon 10-Aug-15 08:57:22

Delilah, if I could hear music from my neighbours after 9.30 (my bedtime) I would be very pissed off. You sound pretty selfish and ignorant

Rubbishfeminist Mon 10-Aug-15 08:59:30

6:30am isn't early. I would't do my garden at that time but I hoovered by living room and kitchen at 6:30am today.

You both sound as bad as each other. If you're concerned about the puppy phone the RSPCA. In future, let neighbours know when you're having parties and loud music at night. And please don't shout at your neighbours out of the window- dreadfully common.

Delilahfandango Mon 10-Aug-15 09:03:19

On a very occasional weekend evening? I'd suck it up!
It's too hot to shut the window.

mileend2bermondsey Mon 10-Aug-15 09:08:44

Seriously, I live in a rough area. I sleep with the window open and am often awokened by neighbours screaming arguments and the like. Do you know what I do? Shut the window. Get a fan if it's that hot? Maybe it's you and your neighbour screaming like fish wifes at each other that wakes me up, who knows?

CaspoFungin Mon 10-Aug-15 09:09:31

06:30 isn't early in what world???!!! So if 06:30 isn't early then and say 04:00 is early does that mean 4pm is late??

Delilahfandango Mon 10-Aug-15 09:24:02

I was not screaming like a fishwife. I very much doubt it's me waking you up, by your user name I'd say you're a long way away!
I shall have a civilised chat with her later. I'm not good in the morningblush
I knew aibu was snarly, so hey hosmile

Noseypoke Mon 10-Aug-15 09:24:40

6.30 is really bloody early!! Especially on a Sunday.

Agree with others. Apologise and try and have a polite chat.
