To hate "baby on board" signs?

Before I start, please no one try and spread bollocks about the energy services. Here's why:
1. So I don't have a sign, you're still not going to look for my child, even though I have car seat there?

2. Yes people say they're suppose to be removed when a child isn't present, however,
99% of people leave them on so that already raises a red flag.

To me, they just translate to "pretentious twat on board".
Don't even get me started on "princess on board". If I had a anger issues, I'd personally ram into the back of that car.

What's your take?

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes Sun 09-Aug-15 12:46:58

I have no take.

Am ambivalent on the subject.

No opinion. Nothing...

TenForward82 Sun 09-Aug-15 12:48:17

I agree. I think the idea is to encourage other people to drive better. In reality I think they just assume you'll be distracted by your little angel so cut you up at the first opportunity. Like using 'P' plates when you've just passed your test.

Also, even though I know it's silly, I hate car signs that tell you the child's name. I know the chances of a pedo coming up to the car when you're distracted and taking little Tarqyn away are small, but still, there's a part of the me that feels you don't need the world to know your kids name.

Seriouslyffs Sun 09-Aug-15 12:49:24

Yeah, I think they're precious.
Can't get too riled though, I wouldn't judge someone on them.
Mum sat in the back with baby or worse bratty older children though, that he's my goat and is a very unpopular opinion.

Laindon Sun 09-Aug-15 12:50:02

Now I've calmed down, I just think they serve no purpose but telling the world the owner's of the car are plonkers.

minionwithdms Sun 09-Aug-15 12:50:02

Is that what the signs are for? I just always take them as a sign that the driver may be sleep-deprived or distracted by crying from the backseat...

LovesYoungDream Sun 09-Aug-15 12:50:42

YABU. Can you not go read the millions of old mn threads on this rather than posting it again. It has been done to death

That Natwest advert with the "baby on board sign" as they returns from the hospital winds my gears especially!

Yes, they bug me - can't quite pinpoint why. Is it the smugness? the presumption somehow that a greater standard of care and driving is required because a baby is on board? Dunno - but, yes, OP, they bug me...

silverglitterpisser Sun 09-Aug-15 12:54:18

Deja vu ....

Couldn't care less about them, they don't affect my life in any way but, yano, if u don't like them, don't have one. Quite simple really. . .

OwlinaTree Sun 09-Aug-15 12:54:18

Not as bad as 'powered by fairydust'.

No it's not. grin

Laindon Sun 09-Aug-15 12:56:41

Aridanne, I agree.

I think it's the smugness that bugs me the most, can't quite pinpoint though grin

FoodieMum3 Sun 09-Aug-15 12:58:04

Don't get me started on the cars that have 'Princess on board' and 'Little Prince on board' hmm

You're fertile and produced 2 children of the opposite sex. There's really no need to boast about it to those driving behind you.

Because yes, that is how I interpret those signs grin

Eminybob Sun 09-Aug-15 12:58:17

I don't have one. I don't see the point really.
The sunshades and car seat are a giveaway that I have a baby.

I especially hate the princess/little dude etc ones. They are displayed by people who clearly think that they are superior in some way to those without a child in their car, and that thier child is superior in some way to everyone else's child.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall Sun 09-Aug-15 13:00:57

I hate any sort of sign or adornment on cars.
Except fluffy dice of course- you cant go wrong.

Laindon Sun 09-Aug-15 13:03:04

I'm glad to see people do agree with me.

As said, the sunshades, car seats (and generally organized mess that's given off by children), gives the fact there is children there quite nicely anyway.

Very much agree that it seems like others are gloating!

WickedWax Sun 09-Aug-15 13:04:34

I think there's that many of them about these days that I've just become blind to them.

I honestly can't remember the last time I actually noticed one.

Alwaysforever2009 Sun 09-Aug-15 13:04:41

The powered by fairy dust signs and stickers make me cringe !! No your car is not powered by fairy dust its powered by petrol or diesel like every other buggers is . It's not cute or funny it's crap !!Grow up and take it off!

Eminybob Sun 09-Aug-15 13:07:05

And don't even get me started on the eyelashes!

CuppaSarah Sun 09-Aug-15 13:09:14

I remember telling my family clearly I didn't want one as they are a bit pointless and just create a blindspot in the mirror.

My sister brought one to the hospital and told me my daughter would surely die in a car crash without this pink foam piece of crap. hmm we put it in once and Dd surprisingly survived so far!

LittleMissStubborn Sun 09-Aug-15 13:12:20

People really read far too much into them, I tend to be concentrating on my driving rather than worrying about what is stuck in someone else's window.

The worst sticker I've ever seen was on a boy racer mobile with 'lower than my granny's tits'.

Thing was the car hadn't been lowered that much (if at all) so the young man's grandmother must have been remarkably pert.

specialsubject Sun 09-Aug-15 13:18:34

I also felt moderately nauseated by 'Mummy's little prince on board' complete with his name!

they are a warning; driver not paying attention/sleep deprived. Keep well away.
