to eat DH's trifles, cos he's gone away for the weekend.

CBA to wash the salad. Can't I just bung it on the plate?

I haven't been at the gin, your honour.

I never wash pre-packaged salad. I would also eat the trifle. No question.

Never do. Life's too short.

And crack on with the trifles - I'm sure they are best before his return

Prepacked salad is already washed no?

Why are the trifles even still there?!

Ooh trifle. Envy

Don't wash.

Give me the trifles.

Hic... But the packet definitely says "wash before use" - I never do. I read that there are traces of listeria, but i'm sure the gin will kill it all.

Don't wash salad. I'll take care of the trifle for you. I'll keep it safe in my tummy

Don't wash it with lovely gin! ????

Why are you eating salad when there is trifle???

Report
xavierfondue · 08/08/2015 20:00

If I eat salad then I won't feel guilty about eating the trifle.

There are 2 left. He won't be back until Monday (has taken DS off to see MIL so don't give him a hard time!). I have time to eat them all now and buy some more before Monday if I remember

Eat the salad straight out of the bag and save on washing up.

Shhht, too late Norah - and the bloody dishwasher is on the blink. And the dishwasher man phoned in sick this morning bet he went off to the beach instead

Ditch the salad. Eat the trifles as they contain all the essential food groups for good health. Fact.

Trifles, plural? Eat them.

TheImprobableGirl · 08/08/2015 20:07

I think to eat the trifles (plural) could BU.... Depending on the size. If your talking family size trifle(s) then I think your dp will be understandably distressed to find both missing. However an 'individual' toddler sized trifle should be snaffled asap. YWBU to leave them.

I never do. What sort of trifle?

Report
xavierfondue · 08/08/2015 20:10

Oh shit, I've just dropped a raspberry on the floor.

I am eating the trifle. They are one of those 4 pack ones. I think a family size one would be a bit much. Even after the salad. Unwashed salad.

DAmn, typing this means I've missed the 5 second rule. Sad

I love a Cadburys Trifle. No fruit, no cold custard. Smile

Report
xavierfondue · 08/08/2015 20:17

Is that one of those chocolate ones? I hate to argue but Flowers that isn't trifle. That's chocolate pudding!

I know, but I can pretend. Grin

I don't like the sherry sponge stuff in a trifle, pr the cold custard or the fruit. Grin

My Nan used to make the Birds one from a box-remember them?

Yanbu about the salad. But yabvvvvu to eat trifle, not because they are your dh's, but because trifle is nasty. Unless of course they are pure chocolate ones in which case ywbu not to have eaten them already.

Some salad bags say "washed and ready to eat" and I don't argue.

Trifle would be disgusting by Monday. You're performing a public service.

xavierfondue · 08/08/2015 20:27

sparkling - the sherry sponge stuff is the best bit! BUT trifles ARE BEING UNREASONABLE to have jelly in them. No proper trifle is made with jelly.

And for lurked and MrsH - when I bought them, i deliberately chose a use by date of 11 August. So they'd be fine. But I think I might nip out to Aldi tomorrow morning even though the trifles I'm eating are from Waitrose

Also, re: salad. Yeah, bollocks to it. As long as there's no obvious soil or wildlife it's going to be fine. I say this as a former chef.
