AIBU?

To think Kenneth Branagh is a bit of a twerp?

I know he's a Sir but I can't bring myself to put that in the title as 1) the honours system is a load of old hooey and 2) you just know that he refers to himself Sir Kenneth Branagh when ordering a taxi or booking a table in a restaurant. Twerp.

Also his acting is so self conscious, it's very 'look at me, someone once said in 1992 that I was the successor to Olivier's crown. I'm a Very Serious Actor don't you know'. Twerp.

And I've never enjoyed one of his films! Emma Thompson must pat herself on the back every night when she looks across the bed and sees Greg Wise lying there.

I like his acting. Can't say what he's like as a person as I haven't met him - have you?

No I haven't met him and yet I can still deduce that he's a twerp. I'm very talented.

I liked him in Much Ado About Nothing.

How? He may be perfectly lovely and unassuming in RL for all we know.

Whenever I've seen him in interviews he comes across as fairly self deprecating and selfless.

Never met the man though so don't know if it's the case

Either way he's a brilliant actor and easy on the eye

I think his acting is so overrated, that's my main bone of contention!

Plus the twerpiness.

I think he's a very good actor, esp on TV and film - I saw him live as Hamlet and didn't like him as much as him in the Fortunes of War trilogy (he was astounding in that), in the one off drama about the Wannsee conference and in Rabbit Proof Fence. He does psychotic bureaucrats really well Smile I also only wanted Henry V to watch when I was in labour, although in the end it was too quick to really get into it.

Who knows what happened between him and ET. I admire ET's acting as well but think she has a smaller range than he does.

I've been impressed with his Shakespeare directing and acting, though he was awful in Mamet. (Then again, Edmond is an awful play...) Plus I fancy him. He comes under my internal heading of 'not at all good-looking, but very attractive, somehow.' Plus I fancy men with no lips.

His Wallander-ing was dire.

He was good in that thing about Shackleton

He got involved with something very local to me. He didn't have to do it and he was fab.

He's delightful in person. Very normal, kind and not at all snobby. I think he is a great actor.

As a Harry Potter fan, I find it weird that Professor Trelawney and Lockhart used to 'do' it. Grin

I feel sorry for any man who is stupid enough to be with Emma Thompson and lose her.
Massive ? for her - batty as she is.

I used to think he was a twerp. Then I saw him in Macbeth. Now I know what the fuss is about. He was superb.

Grrrr.....that is Henry V obviously.

I don't get your snobby read on him - he always seem perfectly nice to me.

I think that actors who come across as selfless and self-deprecating are still acting, I'm looking at you, Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet..

I just think Ken is a poor man's Ralph Fiennes. I have a mad pash for Ralph. Even though I'm sure he'd have me horse whipped if I accidentally called him Ralf.
