To want to move to the wilds of Alaska to get away from my neighbours?

This is the fifth summer that there have been building works going on next door. The first summer, new neighbour had a fuck-off sized garage built in his garden. The second and third year we had constant building work as he then did up the house (big extensions up and down, plus loft conversion) then the house the other side sold and so the fourth summer we had builders in there doing a huge extension. Now the neighbour at the back of my garden is building himself a garage the size of a small mansion. I love my garden but for the last five years there is constant noise, dust, cursing, drilling, circular sawing going on next door. I dont know whether to cry, scream, shoot myself or what. I am a homebased childminder so cant get away from it sad. Thank you. Just needed to rant!

You can join me so long as you are not a builder grin

I feel your pain. Although not as bad as your situation I just wish I could go in my garden and have some privacy but no the 70 odd yr old man next door insists in cutting the hedge so low he may as well eat with us in the dining room hmm

YANBU Hilariously every time I go next door they tell me what a relief it is having me for a neighbour in contrast to the previous occupiers who were always playing loud music. The thing is, next door must posses every engine-powered gadget known to man, brushcutters, strimmers, the loudest mower in the world, the pressure washer, etc etc and they use them at all hours. Last summer was all taken up with the noise of their massive patio being laid, taken up and relaid etc.

And they have one of those Bose radio thingies in their conservatory, so when I go outside, as soon as the angry wasp strimmer gets turned off, I can Thump, Thump, Thump from whatever's on Radio 2.

Don't start me on garden power tools! Plenty of that going on too. One neighbour uses a petrol strimmer. That's always a delight, what with noise plus fumes too.

Still, just enjoyed 20 minutes in the garden, had wax earplugs in grin
