AIBU?

To eat her chocolates?

Dd turned 3 recently and was given a box of chocolates by a family friend.

She doesn't know she was given them and it would only end in tears anyway when she isn't allowed to eat the entire box in one go so WIBU to just eat them on her behalf?
Later once she is in bed and I'm curled up watching a film?

I think you could share them....it'll be a bit mean to eat them all yourself and not let her have a couple. She doesn't need to see the whole box, just choose a few you think she would like and give her them after lunch or dinner.

A box of chocolates for a three year old ?
I'm assuming they are more like malteesers than dairy milk. Grin
Yes of course you must eat them, it is your duty

Your poor daughter, that's so mean! Why can't you share?

It would be wrong to give her all that chocolate! Not good for her. The only responsible thing to do would be to eat get rid ASAP.

Maybe pop a pound or two in her piggy bank to make up for it.

If I felt they were unsuitable for the age/tastes of my child I would eat them but replace with something else so the child knows they "got chocolate from x"

How would your family friend feel if she found out DD didn't even get a look-in at her birthday present?

I'd eat them all.

you could put a few in a little bag and say "these are a present from X" and save the rest.

That way she gets a bit of her chocolate and doesn't pester for it all because all she's seen is what's in the bag and therefore that's all she thinks there is.

Show her them, tell her when she can have a couple and ask if you can share them with her.

I'd assume they were a present for you in memory of labour on this day etc and scoff with a clear concience.

It is a 2 layer box of thorntons....

The idea of putting a couple in a bag makes me feel far far less guilty about planning to eat them all!

That's a bonkers present for a 3 yo!
I'd trough them, and replace them with something like a big tube of smarties, which I rationed out meanly. And probably ate some of, too.

A two layer box of thorntons? For a Three year old? Whaaaat?

Blimey. Just share them. Keep the box out of reach and give her one every now and then, and have a few yourself.

I am fairly laid back but a double layer of chocolates for three year old is a no no.

Put a few in a little Sandwich bag for her

It's a crazy present for a three year old, but I can't see why you can't give her one occasionally without showing her the whole box.

Are you planning to eat the WHOLE lot tonight whilst watching that film? Because that is some seriously hard-core chocolate eating. I don't think even I could manage that.

yes I Could

Does she know she got the chocolates? I got an Easter egg for my 4th birthday (bloody swizz) and was forced to share it with my four brothers. It still rankles...

Hi Cupcakes! Grin
I could so manage the whole box. In an episode of corrie. Or even Peppa Pig.

Floggingmolly "Does she know she got the chocolates?"

It says in the OP that she doesn't know.

Tsk.

I assume this is a joke but... yes ywbu to steal your three year old's present! Just let her eat them over the course of a few months - chocs last!

Floggingmolly Don't be silly. I don't think you should do 100 lines as punishment at all. I think you should stand in the corner, facing the wall and think aboiut what you've done. 14 and a half hours seems to be a suitable period of time, so take a potty with you.

My Dad used to throw our selection boxes and Easter eggs in the bin because he decided we had too many.
