Although I've clearly been stifling it all these years 
I have a golden retriever. Hairy bastard. The hair is constant. There is never no hair on the floors. I hoover every day and between hoovering i sweep the floors a few times a day. But there is always hair and when i brush i always have to spend ages picking the hairs out of the bristles of the brush. I never get them all.
So yesterday my dad was here doing some DIY and there was dust and bits all over the floor. But there was also water amongst it as he removed a radiator. I didnt want to use the brush as it would make it all cloggy and yucky so i grabbed the window squeegee. WELL! What a fantastic job it did, so i thought, this would be brilliant at doing the floors in general, tried it and it was fantastic, and no hairs stuck on it after. And it gets right into the corners too!
So clearly i am a genius yes?
You are now all going to tell me you've been doing this for years arent you? In which case why did nobody tell me?

That might catch all the hairs that were thinking about dropping out that day.
It does sound like a damn good tip though Surly.
I have been using that other good MN tip of using oil to clean those sticky greasy dusty surfaces that you get in the kitchen. The top of my cooker hood looked like carpet after our building work - now it is as shiny as a very shiny thing.
No idea what it's supposed to actually used for but it was in the shed and decided to give it a do.on the dog hair on the hard floors.
My hairdresser uses one. Dont know why it never occured to me to get one. perhaps my genius is just slow in presenting itself?
I will agree that you're a genius if you reveal how to get indoor-long-haired-cat-hairs off the sofa as well
Rubber glove? Thats what i use for our clothes just before we leave the house. We actually have a rubber glove thing from the pet shop that is for this purpose but i find the yellow washing up gloves better as they arent as thick and hard to manouevre.
Can I add to your original idea by suggesting you attach a broom/mop handle to the squeegee so you don't have to do it on all fours?
yes ive been thinking about this. I am sure you can buy long handled squeegees? Must google.

i'm going to try. He might run. I brush him out in the garden every day to take off the most of it but there are always more hes lucky i love him like a 3rd child.
Ahhh. Finally a use for my neglected window squeegee (yes I'm lazy and don't do the Windows half as often as I should). I'm 3 months postpartum and shedding hair like a dog at the moment, you could make a wig from the amount of hair that's fallen from my head in the last week.
Genius! wonders off to find squeegee and dehair the carpet

If it makes you feel better my squeegee has never seen a window. It may have glanced briefly at the shower screen once or twice but otherwise it has sat in the cleaning caddy looking hopeful everytime i open the cupboard. It probably hates me for making it scrape the floor!
