I'm not bothered about the very rich having baubles and trinkets.

However, I AM bothered about the very rich avoiding paying taxes because then, people in lower socioeconomic groups can't get decent healthcare and educations.

If Ms Carey and her boyfriend pay their fair share of tax in America, then I genuinely wish her enjoyment of her necklace.

Not that I'm remotely religious but it's a fact of life that there will always be people who are rich, moderately well off, getting by and poor.

Okay, so she could have donated the money to charity, but she bought (or had bought for her) the necklace. Surely by buying the necklace the jeweller made money, and he/she has staff who need paying, and those staff in turn use the money to pay rent and buy food and so on.

I think it is very pretty,but then again i wear Tiffany diamond earrings and necklace as my everyday jewellery.
