i take 1 50mg of steraline 1 100mg of steraline. 1 piriton then it's my pain Meds. 2 500mg of zapain and 500mg ibuprofen then it's 7.5mg of zimovane plus the omeprazole tablets for acid reflux.

I'm 29 and I hate that these Meds will highly likely to be long term

Ohbollocksandballs Fri 24-Jul-15 21:39:47

But better than the alternative? I know how you feel though. I take quite a few tablets. Do you take them all at once?

YeOldeTrout Fri 24-Jul-15 21:47:13

yanbu. I think OP just came on for a moan? Maybe one day they can figure out how to reduce your meds.

wannabestressfree Fri 24-Jul-15 21:51:30

I take roughly 25 tablets three times a day. Injections weekly. I feel your pain as it annoys me too.

DoeEyedNear Fri 24-Jul-15 21:52:45

Yanbu I take 6 tablets daily without as and when medication for break through pain. I'm around your age.

It's crap isn't it.

I hope so hate that I can't pay for my prescription due to living in Wales.

DoeEyedNear Fri 24-Jul-15 22:01:18

Your meds are mainly psych meds aren't they? Hopefully they'll be temporary. Omeprazole also can be taken sporadically once the reflux is under control. Also if you have reflux issues wtf are you taking an NSAID like ibuprofen? Is your Dr trying to give you an ulcer?

It seems like a temporary situation.

Could be worse. You could, like me, live in England.

Welshmaenad Fri 24-Jul-15 22:05:40

I take a lot of tablets, plus daily injections. I do worry about taking codeine long term and try to limit it just to night time.

I live in wales too, I wouldn't pay for my prescriptions anyway due to being diabetic. I view it as a cost to the NHS that will help keep me healthy and functioning and able to work or contribute to society in other ways for a long time, which will far outweigh the costs of my medication.

I take MAD MEDS and will be on them for the rest of my life. I've already been on them for 20+ years.

Better to take the 10 pills a day than be a puddle on the floor I think.

ilovechristmas1 Fri 24-Jul-15 22:33:17

why do you hate not paying for your scripts op ?

ilovechristmas1 Fri 24-Jul-15 22:34:16

also another on mad meds longterm grin

DameMargaretOfChalfont Fri 24-Jul-15 22:39:38

OP - You have quite a first world problem.

Your body may not be perfect but you need to thank your lucky stars that medication can kick in where your body fails.

There are definitely worse things to worry about.

achieve15 Fri 24-Jul-15 22:41:55

Do they allow people to take zimovane for life? I'm a terrible sleeper and have to beg to get ten a year.

I had to take lots of things for a while, not permanently but it is a nuisance I agrre.

GGabcd Fri 24-Jul-15 22:42:25

MAD MEDS users unite!

you have to put it in all caps, it's a rule

grin

DoeEyedNear Fri 24-Jul-15 22:43:52

I'm on the mad meds too despite them being contraindicated with my baseline pain meds the Dr's feel the benefits outweigh the risks.

Go us!

Anyone else at the stage of pain management where they have to take id and double sign for the meds? That ones fun.

ilovechristmas1 Fri 24-Jul-15 22:47:40

ive never had so much body pain since i started the MAD MED one being on Quitiepine, but better than what i was on before i suppose

DoeEyedNear Fri 24-Jul-15 22:49:30

Yeah my MAD MEDS caused muscle spasms in the early days. If you've never had one, you're a lucky bastard grin

ilovechristmas1 Fri 24-Jul-15 22:50:13

oh yes the carrier bag,if i dont hear the chemists drop of he just opens my front door and chucks them in the hall grin

TopazRocks Fri 24-Jul-15 22:55:20

I have a lot of daily meds too. But it's only a nuisance when going away - or if I start to run out!! A few months ago I went away for a trip and my bag was half-full with tablets, inhalers, creams, etc. Coming back was a lot less. I am just glad I don't have to pay for it all, as in up front costs not just prescrption charges which I don't pay anyway being in Scotland, and that I live in a country where they are available easily. Without some I'd be dead or closer to being dead. smile

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Fri 24-Jul-15 22:57:01

I feel your pain. I take 4 tablets a day for depression and anxiety. And even they can be hard enough.
My lovely mum and dad are like you and take upteen tablets a day. Between them they could open a Chemist

CharleyDavidson Fri 24-Jul-15 22:59:45

Oh I hate my medication.

I take them for asthma, allergies, contraception and my face.

My face meds are my main pain.

a) they don't fully work, but I'm lucky that they work at all. I have some breakthrough pain in my face/jaw/ear/teeth daily.

b) I really dislike their side effects.
Face pain meds no 1 made me drunk, so dizzy I couldn't walk a straight line, so nauseous I couldn't stay awake driving in broad daylight and made me drop stuff.

New face pain meds that replaced the old don't come with the nausea or dizziness so I can function. But I twitch and still knock/drop stuff. I have problems with my memory, my word recall, my handwriting/spelling, my habit of saying a wrong-but-related word to the word I wanted to say (so it will start with the same letter or be the opposite or a similar word).

Many of the above side effects are highly noticeable by my class of 9 year olds but the other option is unremitting pain and I'm lucky that I've found a tablet that works.

DOWN WITH MAD MEDS! (But thank goodness for them at the same time)

AwakeCantSleep Fri 24-Jul-15 23:01:39

YANBU. Currently just taking two tablets a day (sertraline and thyroxin). A few years ago I was on 25 tablets a day (very high dose steroids, some other horrible meds plus about eight tablets against side effects of the first two). Not nice.

Hope things get better for you soon OP.

achieve15 Fri 24-Jul-15 23:03:53

Doe, I'm guessing OP is on the stomach stuff because of having to take anti inflammatories? If you have a pain condition and need to take the NSAIDs, in my experience nothing else works. I should have been given stomach stuff but wasn't....talk about shredded tummy!

Ah yes, the inhaler problem. I have two but I know someone who has to carry four. No teeny handbags for us.
