Next Sale. Oh my eyes!

Yep. It's that time of year again.
Hordes of women to be seen walking around, sporting shapeless tat that they've been 'lucky' enough to pick up in the Next Sale.
All looking like identical victims of an explosion in a paint factory.

Aibu to think that, this year especially, even the quality and colours of the clothes in the supermarkets is far superior than those found in Next.

I hope their winter stuff is better.
The summer stuff was dire.

Yanbu

Sometimes I wander into next with my 18 year old daughter - I just do it to see the look of horror on her face.

I used to like their stuff but I haven't found anything I like in years.

Supermarkets are definitely upping their game but for many things I find next better quality than supermarkets. I only buy a few things there now though.
I was once silly enough to by LO clothing there and realised actually I couldn't give a stuff about the quality considering he outgrew most things in about 3-4 months and they'd be stained to bits anyway.

It was pretty bad thus summer.
I nipped in on Sunday morning to pick up a sale dress for DD I'd ordered online and had a quick look at the women's stuff.
It was dire. Even the assistant tidying the rails looked embarrassed. Lots of aztec print and that ubiquitous blue/red print from this season in every style of top/dress/trouser available, all horrid.

i used to wonder who in their right mind would get up at four am to go to a next sale at five am!

do they still do that in the UK? they used to wen I lived there.

their online service is good though. next day delivery, and their waist enhancing jeans are good. all their tops are very shapeless though.

I was really pleased with the dresses and trainers I got for DD.

I can't stand Next. Load of overpriced, shit quality clothes and peculiar sizing/designs too. The thought of getting up at 4am to go to one of their brawls sales fills me with horror. I regularly walk past their local large store and it's pretty empty day to day; I think they must do most of their business in these sales.

Their women's stuff has been going downhill for years (although I have recently got a couple of bits to cover my sizeable postnatal belly as their sizes are generous Blush )

Ds is 4 months and I picked up some lovely 6-9 and 18-24 month stuff in the sale (jeans, t shirts and jumpers mostly). Although I also bought a gorgeous age 3 coat that I'll stash away for a couple of years too hopelessly over prepared

They specifically buy surplus stock just for the sale. Any old shit goes up on the rails at that time, and guess what people are sheep enough to fall for it!

Love most of the kids bits for DS and bought him a few bits in the sale but agree that the women's clothes are hideous Confused

When I was younger my mum was one of the crazies queuing at the crack of dawn, she used to drag me with her. Last time we went, ages ago, she tried to get into the local shopping centre carpark at 4am. And convinced the security man that we both worked in new look and was starting an early shift. I was about 14 but he let us in anyway!
They used to have boxes of Foxes glacier sweets on the floor which made it a bit more bearable for my sister and I.
We still laugh about it when we walk past a Next now Grin

No one could ever describe me as fashionable but I agree; their stuff is awful. I'm quite glad to find this thread, I thought it was just me. The patterns are gopping and judging by their tops, they've forgotten that women have waists. If I ever see another smock top I won't be responsible for my actions.

If I ran the country I would have a Boxing Day with large shops closed, just to upset all those who rush to the Next Sale.

Blows hot and cold IMO. I think you have to buy carefully.

This year they were the only company still stocking decent long-line spaghetti strap vests in basic colours after the hot spell we had. Everywhere bloody else had sold out! Asda, New Look, ect. And their long vests are proper long enough to cover your bum, which is what i was after Grin

I used to work at Next. Oh the horror of the Next sale! Anything that's been languishing in the stock room goes out in the rail. Valentine's Day chocolates with ones missing, battered Christmas paper, anything. People used to go nuts and just scoop up anything in sight.

There is a religious cult sect in our city where the women have to wear a very distinctive style of clothing. They don't go into the shops much but you always saw them at the Next sale surrounded by bags. We theorised that it was the only time through the year that they could go shopping at 5am so as not to be corrupted by us...

Not shopped in Next for a while but I used to love their clothes - especially the maternity jeans. They were the only ones that actually fit me without either siting under my armpits or sliding down and revealing a huge builders bum.
Kids clothes used to be good too, my lot had uniform from there for ages.
As for the sale, not going there - a friend of one goes to bed early on Christmas Day to get up at a ridiculous time so she can get to the Boxing Day sale. What a waste of a day!

I went once. All the stock appeared to be on the floor, one family were shoving everything they could find into the bags without looking (ebayers maybe) the shop was full of prams and it was heaving.

None of the stuff I could actually see looked worth the bother, made me think they had bought a load of tat specially.

I do think it's better quality than the supermarkets. When I had a huge clearout of clothes a few years ago, the George and New Look stuff was all misshapen and ready for the bin whereas the Next stuff was still going (including the dc's clothes.)

I haven't bought anything in next for some time though as those square jumpers and loose tops make me look huge. Oh apart from a pair of leggings that give me camel toe.

I got my Next AW directory two days before Next dale started Grin
I shop from there for Tall section...when you're 6 feet tall you're very limited with choice for trousers.

That said, there is a hell of a lot more choice in petite than tall in the directory .....
Obviously if you're tall you don't deserve anything other than black trousers.Sad

I sent my Directory back. Cheeky buggers. Just because I ordered a pair of school trousers online as a one off, I get an account, a credit limit of 3K and a Directory I never asked for and was charged for it. Angry
